Importing Computer DNS entries

About reverse zone in the dns
Hi By not appearing as zone by default in the integrated dns to samba 4 (BIND9_DLZ), is then added manually and it works perfectly; to join a second domain controller and perform the relevant steps are added the second domain controller as in the reverse zone is not the same as NS. How do I add it? cd1.abc.cu and cd2.abc.cu In the direct zone in the dns Name server (NS) cd1.abc.cu Name server

Joining a Windows Server 2008 R2 to existing Samba4 domain
Hi all, A bit of back story. A few years back we upgraded our Samba3 domain to Samba4 using the classicupgrade method. After a few stumbles we got there and now have 9 DC's globally all running 4.5.0. We dropped the ball when naming our domain and now need to change it. This has led me down the path of attempting to join a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine as a DC and then run the RENDOM tool

Joining a Windows Server 2008 R2 to existing Samba4 domain
Hi Marc, Thanks for your reply. We are using BIND9_DLZ currently as the DNS backend I manually selected a replication partner (the FSMO roles DC). We do have some errors when doing a dbcheck but I'm not able to fix them. I've detailed this in another post. Here is an example of each type: Example1: *ERROR: incorrect GUID component for member in object

Internal DNS migrate to Bind9_DLZ
Hello, sorry, but I cannot find start of this discussion thread, so my question may be stupid. Is your domain classicupgraded from Samba 3 or provisioned from scratch? I have similar problem with our domain which is upgraded. If I provision the new domain everything works, but in old domain there is something broken inside. For Rowland: Does exist utility with similar function as "net rpc

Issue with computer accounts with classicupgrade
I have an old Centos5/Samba3.5 domain with LDAP backend that I am attempting to migrate to the latest Samba 4.2 on Centos 7.1. Samba in both cases has been installed using Sernet packages. I had successfully run the classicupgrade process, but in subsequent testing found that in the 3.5 domain all the computer accounts have the posixAccount class and therefore have a uidNumber.

DC2: TKEY is unacceptable, Failed DNS update?
Hi Marc, I appreciate that you reply, but I got it resolved by following the advice of Mathias. I was aware of the links below, however the first is about using the BIND9_DLZ backend, and at the time I experienced the issue I was using the internal one. Marc & Mathias, The 2nd link that Marc references is about a DC should not use itself for DNS queries is exactly the opposite of your

AD, multiple DC, some DC without DNS at all
Hi all, Thank you Mark for these precisions. I did switch a DC to --dns-backend=NONE using samba-tool domain join. This removed dns-<DCname> user for this DC and associated keytab. We changed /etc/resolv.conf to use another DC - one with Bind running - as nameserver. Stopping there, running samba_dnsupdate gave error "NOTAUTH". As we want our DC being able to push into DNS

OpenLDAP proxy to samba4 AD
Hello Marc, I appreciate your response, as well as the other members. Reading your answer, I believe I found what I wanted. Option 3, the principle is what I need right now. I'll try to explain. Today in production, we have the samba3 + openldap. The samba3 is installed on a freebsd, but has some problems that we can not detect. My boss does not want to drop the openldap now. We have

Samba4 ClassicUpgrade
Hi all. Problems resolved! I found the samba process that was increasing the memory after I ran the netstat from PID and I discovered that the process opened 88/464 tcp/udp port. After I ran tcpdump program in my DC server listening udp 88 port and I found many clients machines sending traffic a lot to my DC server. I blocked the ips from clients machines by iptables and the samba process

AD, multiple DC, some DC without DNS at all
Hi all, How to configure Samba to remove DNS service from DC? I thought there was an option for samba_dnsupgrade command to tell "remove all DNS service from current DC" but I don't find it anymore. This question is because we are about to deploy an AD with 20 or more DC and there is no need they are all DNS servers. In fact having them all DNS servers make design more complex and

Hai, ? i was reading: ? http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO#Testing_DNS? which stats : Don't use BIND9_FLATFILE! It's not documented and supported!? ? This is wrong imo.? ? bind9_flatefile works fine, it just does not support multi master dns, and bind9_DLZ does. so you must setup a master/slave setup for bind9 with flatfile ? If you need to run a network with
