debugging bind9_DLZ
On wiki page
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End#Reconfiguring_the_BIND9_DLZ_Back_End
in the "Debugging the Bind Module" the section discusses the location
for the log file.
The /etc/named.log says "bash: bind: -g: cannot read: No such file or
directory" . . . I am puzzled, what "file or directory" is being
referenced?

Find/delete bad DNS Entry
We added a DNS entry to Samba via the Windows DNS Manager which apparently
was invalid. Now we can't see the list of forward lookup in the Window DNS
Manager because it immediately errors and we have to restart the Samba
service.
Running Samba 4.3.11-Ubuntu on Ubuntu 16.04
Additionally, a samba-tool dns query fails with the following error:

samba-tool dns query error WERR_INTERNAL_DB_ERROR
Hello,
i have two samba 4 domain controllers v4.1.0, with bind_dlz running so far
without problems, but now i have some problems with dns.
Running
samba-tool dns query dc1 samdom.example.com @ ALL
returns this error:

samba_dlz Failed to configure reverse zone
I just upgraded bind9 on my backup DC to 9.9.5-7-Debian and restarting
the service failed:

And some more information about this strange effect apparently no-one
has seen before.
I now added the missing zone:
samba-tool dns zonecreate verdandi 10.16.172.in-addr.arpa -U Administrator
and it claims that the zone is okay, but the next one is missing:

Problem with keytab: "Client not found in Kerberos database"
I am trying to use a keytab for a client machine to authenticate to
Samba's own LDAP server.
The samba servers (replicated) are ubuntu 16.04 with samba 4.5.2
compiled from source.
The client machine is ubuntu 16.04 with stock samba 4.3.11. It has been
joined directly to the Samba domain ("net ads join"). I have also
extracted a keytab ("net ads keytab create -P")

Samba 4.0.7 DC in Windows 2003R2 AD
Greetings,
The ultimate goal is a full implementation of Samba4/OpenChange/SOGo but
that onion has too many layers to shoot for the whole thing at once. So,
I've added a Samba/Ubuntu12.04 DC to the AD and want to get it totally
correct before proceeding with OC. I have two questions (at the moment):
First, PAM is not included on the Samba DC and I need to know if it is a
requirement. The

Authentication with trusted credentials
Some more details. Below is what I have during joining Linux (Ubuntu 20.04)
to the SVITLA3 domain. SVITLA3 (Samba) is trusting, APEX (AD) is trusted.
SVITLA3 has *administrator *and *test01 *users, APEX has *administrator *and
*jake *users.
test01 - 20000:20000 (uidNumber:gidNumber)
jake - 10000:10000
You can see some delay in some places - I marked them bold. It looks like
DNS timeouts.

Point #1: is not correct.
Why is Jake getting an ID from * Range and not APEX range. ?
That need to be found first
Run: net cache flush
Restart samba. : systemctl restart smbd winbind nmbd (and/or sssd is you use that)

Any improvement?

[PATCH] nsd-patch: fix segfault after renaming slave zone
Hi all,
we have discovered a segfault in nsd-patch when renaming slave zone in nsd
config file if some data for this zone still exists in the IXFR diff
database.
In my case, the zone "black" was renamed to "blackinwhite":

Problem with keytab: "Client not found in Kerberos database"
I finally found it, thanks to a clue from
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Active_Directory_Integration
This works:
kinit -k -t /etc/krb5.keytab 'WRN-RADTEST$'
These don't work:
kinit -k -t /etc/krb5.keytab
kinit -k -t /etc/krb5.keytab host/wrn-radtest.ad.example.net
kinit -k -t /etc/krb5.keytab host/wrn-radtest
That is: the keytab contains three different principals:

I dug somewhat deeper into what is going on below and it seems even
stranger. The reverse zone without SOA or NS does not even exist:

ALL -U Administrator
Password for [AD\Administrator]:

Samba4/Windows DNS replication and administration issue
Hi all,
I am having trouble with DNS replication between a Linux/Samba 4.0.9 box and Windows Server 2012 domain controller, as well as administering the Linux DNS from the Windows DNS Manager snap-in.
First a little background. I am trying to integrate a Samba 4.0.9 server as a domain controller in an existing Windows Active Directory domain. The domain and forest are at Windows 2008R2
