Making Samba4 log data accessible in MsWindows EventLog Viewer?
I'd like to make the data in the logs from Samba4 available to view in MsWindows Eventlog Viewer. The most information I can find on this subject is this link: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Event_Logging Here's what I think I understand from that article: 1) Tell samba which event log 'names' to create (and somehow report to the Ms. EventViewer); 2) Find/develop a program

vfs_streams_depot
Hi, I have configured vfs_streams_depot to support some NTFS metadata. The metadata files are being created but permissions are not inherited from their parent objects. Only a user who created the metadata has full access to it. For example, we have one file object "file1" and few users having full access to it. If one user creates metadata information all other users cannot read nor

Yes, after further research the solution could possibly be to create a python script to monitor the json output in log.samba and push out eventlog formatted events to 'Security' with eventlogadm. Seems a lot of work. The appliance in question also supports getting the necessary info via the netapi call "netsessionenum" I have tried that and a wireshark dump shows samba replying

so I sent you the dump separately. and i tried a persistent drive mapping to \\DC\netlogon which I figured should create a more permanent session as you described. That worked the same. Are you saying that it could be as simple as adding a case like this one headed up by a 'case 10:' ?                 case 1:                        werr = init_srv_sess_info_1(p,                                                     r->in.info_ctr->ctr.ctr1,                                                     r->in.resume_handle,

Can't write to a samba share mounted as an AD user
If I’m not confused though, I believe pisymbol CAN get a mount. It’s just that the mount has read-only access despite the file ownership and modes being set to give full read-write? -E > On Aug 2, 2018, at 8:56 AM, Rowland Penny via samba <samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > > On Thu, 2 Aug 2018 11:17:47 -0400 > pisymbol <pisymbol at gmail.com <mailto:pisymbol at

Need help for eventlogadm
Because my debian sarge dist doesn't have eventlogadm i download the source and compile it. I follow the instructions on http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Event_Logging and insert the line eventlog list = Application, System, Security, SyslogLinux in smb.conf in the main - section. Pruning embedded samba 3.6 installation
I'm using the Yocto Project to build an embedded distro, to which I'm adding Samba 3.6 from OpenEmbedded. Doing so increases my root file system from about 63MB to 175MB. I seem to be building a large Samba server with a small ancillary operating system tacked onto it. I listed the files in my file system image, and see that lots of the commands are quite large. I understand that Samba 4

RJS Template rendering viewable code
Hi, I''m adding some RJS templates to my application and everything seams to function properly except the final rendering shows the javascript code created by the template and what I think are line breaks. The same partial is used in two other places and seams to work fine when called from an RHTML file. Rendered: new Effect.Fade(''job14'',{});
