Reverse zones fail with secure updates
Hai James,
So a windows xp works but Win7/10 not, at least is good hint.
So, i did have a look in my setup again.
And i'm thinking, i have disabled ipv6 for my windows 7 and win 10 pc's.
That may be an option..
A thing you can try, have a look here :
http://www.bvanleeuwen.nl/faq/?p=1142
ipv6 Admx to simple disable ipv6.
I've set : Disable all IPv6 components.

Hai James,
What is the connection's DNS suffix of the pc?
And did you setup TLS in you samba?
Look here, in the advanded tcp settings of the pc. ( or ipconfig /all )
And is it ticked "Use this connections dns suffix in dns registration"
(In dhcp option 81.)
Or use Group policy editors.

Reverse DNS
Hi Rowland,
Just as a test, I installed the dhcp server in the DC ( in the lab). Then configured the dhcp as per the wiki
This is what I see. And again the forward zone update despite the errors but the reverse doesn't

Hi
first project with samba, first post on this mailing list and, actually,
first time using a mailing list ever ;-)
In summary

I try to install samba in a test VMs, everything seems fine but when

Reverse zones fail with secure updates
Just check, yes all my pc's ( dhcp and static ) are owner of the DNS records.
NTDOM\COMPUTERNAME$ is set on the record and every pc its own record.
! one thing, i do use Bind9_dlz with samba and not internal DNS.
I forgot if i mentioned it before or not.

adding Windows client reverse dns entries
Once again, reading here and there and I am confused.
I thought the W clients (both W7 and W10) reverse dns PTR records where
added by the ADDC automatically.
This mornings testing (nslookup of client IP addresses) is not finding
clients via their IP addresses. (Forward lookups via hostname work
fine.)
Do we (users of samba4) need to add each W client to our dns servers?
(Grated this would

Administrator account lost administrative privileges
Hello,
Using Samba 4.7.4 on 6 Ubuntu 14.04 as DC's. Recently noticed
applications were failing to install on Windows 10 and 7 workstations.
Started to investigate and noticed the Administrator account could not
install software. The Domain Admins appear to work as normal with full
domain rights. As a test I logged in to a Windows 10 workstation as
Administrator and invoked a

Windows cannot access \\server check the spelling of the name 0x800704cf
Hai Rich,
Your output of ipconfig /all
Where are these?
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . :
This one is below in the output.
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Verify above again, if these 3 are all there and set to webb.local
Then try this : in you network settings, disable ipv6
Beside ipv6 and the 2 missing outputs, i see the same here on my pc.

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Can you run on a failing computer :
- netdom verify yourpcname
- nslookup yourpcname
All ok?
And is time in sync?
Did you install winbind after the update and also and did you change you server services line?
Like, i use bind9 dns
My smb.conf contains only this : server services = -dns
The full line is :
samba-tool testparm -vv | grep "server service"
