ok, a other try .. i tranfer the roles back to DC2:
first run: error
second run: error
third run: NO error
then i added "import samba.drs_utils" in /opt/samba/lib/python2.7/site-packages/samba/netcmd/fsmo.py and now the role transfer works fine.
root at dc2:~# samba-tool fsmo transfer --role=all -U administrator

replication upper-lower case
hi list,
If a new object was created, samba 4.5.0 on the first DC creates a ldapObject with the attribute name CN in lower case.
On the second DC samba via replication creates the object with upper case attribute name.
Is this a problem or can i ignore this?

apple mail, and mails marked as deleted
hi,
is this a feature or a bug in conjunction with apple mail. i usually
use the feature in imap to not delete the emails, but only mark them as
deleted, which is a very usefull feature if you use a emailbox with
more people accessing it. Im now trying an SME server installation with
dovecot 0.99.10, and when i delete a message, it gets marked as
deletet, but as soon as i change the mailbox

samba-tool ldapcmp without --filter errors out.
Hai,
?
I've just upgrade samba on my DC's from 4.10.10 to 4.11.2.
Which went fine offcourse ;-) but when i checking my replications i noticed the following.
?
If people have problems upgrading, the steps to take are :
( Debian buster, samba upgrade 4.10=> 4.11 van-belle repo. )
# update 4.10 to 4.11
sed 's/410/411/g'? /etc/apt/sources.list.d/van-belle.list
apt update

ad dc performance issues
Hi
We have been experiencing performance issues with the 4 Samba4 (currently installed version 4.20.4) AD DC domain controllers for a while. We have tested various options, including hidden ones that were not documented. The LDB indices help a bit, but typically on Mondays, when the most customers log in, there is 100% CPU usage by one LDAP process and high RPC process load.

ldapcmp issue
Hi all,
It seems "samba-tool ldapcmp" does not support too much items in Samba's
database.
Playing for a while with DB I was never able to run ldapcmp successfully.
So yesterday I installed a platform to fill piece by piece my two small DCs
and to run ldapcmp. The process follows.
Test platform: 2 DCs using Debian 8.1 "net install" with only system tools,

Using samba-python to query AD? Status of API?
Hello:
I'd really like to leverage the samba-python API to perform 'net ads
search' style queries for an upcoming project.
Is there any documentation or examples someone can point me to? The
'python/examples' directory is a misnomer (!) and the online API
documentation was generated from 2011 and is also just as cryptic.
I even checked the binaries in samba-client to see if

4.9.12 operation unavailable without authentication
I have Samba in production (4.9.6-12 on Ubuntu 18.04) which is working well.
However, we are several releases behind so I am gearing up to upgrade to the latest 4.9 release.
As part of the preparations (and for other reasons), I spun up an upgraded DC cluster in our development environment (4.9.12-15 on Ubuntu 18.04).
The initial setup seemed to work and now I have two DCs that appear to be
