glusterfs bits..
hi everyone before I subscribe to yet another @list I was hoping a centosian here has some experience and know the answer - I've started googling but have to failed - glusterfs does not translate local FS (xfs) quotas and presents them to its clients, does it? It is only glusterfs own quota functions that we have to manage quoatas? many thanks. L.

quota calculating
Hey everyone, Currently where I work we use qmail. Every time a message is delivered, qmail seems to walk through the user's entire maildir in order to calculate quota usage. Delivering messages simultaneously to just a few users who are allowed large maildirs (1-2GB) will bring our servers to their knees. Which brings me to dovecot. I use dovecot whereever I can, but haven't yet

unable to remove ACLs
hi guys I have a simple case of: $ setfacl -b not working! I copy a folder outside of autofs mounted gluster vol, to a regular fs and removing acl works as expected. Inside mounted gluster vol I seem to be able to modify/remove ACLs for users, groups and masks but that one simple, important thing does not work. It is also not the case of default ACLs being enforced from the parent, for I

man pages - incomplete
@devel hi, I wonder who takes care of man pages when it comes to rpms? I'd like to file a bugzilla report and would like to make sure it's packages mainainer(s) are responsible for incomplete man pages. Often man pages are neglected by authors, too often, and man is, should always be "the place", we users/admins should not have to sroogle for info almost every time. m.

dbench & similar - as a valid benchmark
hi everybody would a tool such as dbench be a valid bechmark for gluster? and, most importantly, is there any formula to estimate raw fs to gluster performance ratio for different setups? for instance: having a replicated volume, two bricks, fuse mountpoint to volume via non-congested 1Gbps or even a volume on single brick with fuse client mountpoing locally what percentage/fraction of raw

Simple quota in GlusterFS 11
Dear list, I noticed that GlusterFS 11 introduces a new "simple quota" system. According to the pull request? the implementation is based on Amar's earlier proposal? and is inspired by work they did in Kadalu. Other than that I don't see any documentation or discussion about these features. Specifically, it seems that the implementation relies on the quota features of the

GlusterFS over lessfs/opendedupe
Hi, I'm currently running GlusterFS over XFS, and it works quite well. I'm wondering if it's possible to add data deduplication into the mix by: glusterfs --> lessfs --> xfs or glusterfs --> opendedupe --> xfs Has anybody tried doing this? We're running VM images on gluster, and I figure we could get a bit of space saving bu deduplicating the data. Gerald

heal info OK but statistics not working
1) one peer, out of four, got separated from the network, from the rest of the cluster. 2) that unavailable(while it was unavailable) peer got detached with "gluster peer detach" command which succeeded, so now cluster comprise of three peers 3) Self-heal daemon (for some reason) does not start(with an attempt to restart glusted) on the peer which probed that fourth peer. 4) fourth

samba4 with glusterfs
Hi Sambalist, maybe someone with some glusterfs experience can help me. I have a running samba4 installation here. Now i tried to get glusterfs configured so I can use glusterfs as an additional storagesystem. The setup of glusterfs worked pretty easy. I tried multiple configurations with up to 4 virtual machines (Virtual Box). The bricks are xfs-filesystems. Mounting glusterfs (mount -t

CTDB and samba private dir (+ldap)
hi everyone an attempt to set up a cluster, I'm reading around and see some howto writers would say to put "private dir on the FS cluster" - one question I have: is this correct? necessary? I have partial success, I get: $ ctdb status Number of nodes:2 pnn:0 10.5.6.32 OK pnn:1 10.5.6.49 UNHEALTHY (THIS NODE) Generation:323266562 Size:2 hash:0 lmaster:0 hash:1

GlusterFS, Pacemaker, OCF resource agents on CentOS 7
Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone here is using the GlusterFS OCF resource agents with Pacemaker on CentOS 7? yum install centos-release-gluster yum install glusterfs-server glusterfs-resource-agents The reason I ask is that there seem to be a few problems with them on 3.10, but these problems are so severe that I'm struggling to believe I'm not just doing something wrong. GlusterFS performance
Hello! I have GlusterFS installation with parameters: - 4 servers, connected by 1Gbit/s network (760-800 Mbit/s by iperf) - Distributed-replicated volume with 4 bricks and 2x4 redundancy formula. - Replicated volume with 2 bricks and 2x2 formula. I found some trouble: if I try to copy huge amount of files (94000 files, 3Gb size), this process takes terribly long time (from 20 to 40 minutes). I
