Provision new domain keeping users and passwords
Hello, I try to add a new dc to my domain, but the sysadmin installed the main dc left misconfigured dns zones that I can not remove. ¿Is it possible to provision the domain again using new samba as main dc Keeping users and passwords Of the previous dc? The current main dc runs samba 4.4. Best regards, Santiago. -- Santiago Londoño Mejía Analista de Infraestructura t. (574) 605 25

But it can be found via DNS, why changing local (for this server) hostname affects this?

Hai, Since your getting. finddcs: No matching server found > ERROR: Invalid IP address '3(NXDOMAIN)'! There is something wrong in the base of you setup. Check all DC's for ipnumbers (A) and PTR records. Dont forget to create the reverse zone yourself. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_Troubleshooting

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Hello, We have a Windows 2008 DC (inview-dc1 and a samba 4.4.16 (inview-dc2) server as a backup DC. The system for the most-part works OK, but occasionally the Samba DC goes wildly out of sync (with respect to group membership), normally after a change to a large group. I have noted previously before the out-of-sync event occurs, this command always fails thus : root at inview-dc2:~#

Thanks Garming. We currently use a standalone bind DNS server. Will the later version of samba work without the integrated DNS backend? Find/delete bad DNS Entry
We added a DNS entry to Samba via the Windows DNS Manager which apparently was invalid. Now we can't see the list of forward lookup in the Window DNS Manager because it immediately errors and we have to restart the Samba service. Running Samba 4.3.11-Ubuntu on Ubuntu 16.04 Additionally, a samba-tool dns query fails with the following error: > $ samba-tool dns query dc1.mydomain.com

Ok just to verify. DC name= ad41.dc.samges.ru dnsdomain= dc.samges.ru Kerberos domain ?? Im guessing you kerberos to dnsdomain mapping is wrong. Can you post the /etc/hosts /etc/resolv.conf /etc/krb5.conf And, can you post this line u used for provisioning? Hai Mike, I post it to the list so everybody can learn from it. > Why you use "hostname -i" ? man hostname wil tell.. But i'll try to explain it a bit. Samba 4 RPC hangs after a while
Hello all, ? this is my first Post in a Mailing List I hope everything goes fine. ? We are running a Samba 4 DC (4.0.14, Version 4.1.4 has the same problem) as a second DC in our Windows Environment. This server is in a second site. ? So after a while Samba 4 hangs and it is not possible to talk to the server via the RPC Protocol. So all samba-tools Commands like ?samba-tool drs showrepl? run

Samba4/AD Replication Issue
I have a couple of Samba4 AD DCs replicating with Windows Server 2008 DCs. This has been sort of finicky, but I've managed to get it to work (mostly) for several weeks. However, I'm now having an issue where one of my Samba4 DCs will not replicate from any of the other DCs (Windows or Samba) in the domain (Error is WERR_BAD_NET_RESP). Replication output is below. If anyone has ideas of

Samba 4.2.7 - winbind very high cpu load
Hi, we have a winbind issue with Samba (Version 4.2.7-SerNet-RedHat-19.el6) on one of our servers. After a while (once a day) one of the winbind daemons causes a very high cpu load (100%). This load remains until we kill this process. This server is a member of a AD domain with several trusted domains. I think this happens because winbind has problems with one of the trusted domains (ALS2)

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Hi, Many of these syncing problems were solved in Samba 4.7 (and probably a few more in 4.8). There were a number of unresolved locking issues that we uncovered as well as some inconsistencies with Windows replication. I would try join a DC with one of the latest Samba versions and see if your problems persist. Cheers, Garming On 21/06/18 21:35, Chris Lewis via samba wrote: > Hello, >

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
What does the WERR_BAD_NET_RESP means? I'm currently upgrading our DCs to 4.8.3 and I've noticed that the off-site DC has a sync problem of the CN=Configuration NC. The FSMO DC is still in the 4.5.5, but all other DCs, including the off-site are already on 4.8.3. Trying to sync the off-site DC with one of the updated DCs does not work either. The WERR_BAD_NET_RESP message already
