classic upgrade with rfc2307bis
Hi Christian
we did someithing similar some month ago and I only found only a rather complicated way.
1) We extracted the normal passwd and group information
getent passwd > /root/passwd.out
getent group > /root/group.out
deleted system user and password, converted to ASCIi and sorted computers out of passwd.out
grep '\$' /root/passwd.out.asciiĀ >

database got corrupted, users could not login
I'm running Samba with LDAP on SuSE. Users had trouble logging in - finally
I just ran db_recover & restarted ldap and samba. It looks like the LDAP
database got corrupted somehow because samba couldn't get the LDAP data.
Also I created accounts with smbldap-useradd -m -a -B 1 username. Some of
the users were just using the same password samba seemed to kick them out. I

smbldap- only user root can login to windows.
After getting samba, ldap and smbtools setup and joining machines to the domain
successfully, the only user that can login to the win2k boxes is the user
root created initially by the smbldap scripts. Any other user comes up with
a bad username and password message in windows.
Any of the users I've tried to login to the windows box can login to other
linux machines, can connect using

ldapsam:trusted = yes : trouble getting it to work
I have been trying for a while now to enable set the parameter ?ldapsam:trusted? to ?yes? in smb.conf but as soon as I enable it, users cannot access shares anymore. I am trying to enable this because the users are member of a lot of groups and I want to take the stress off the ldap server. I have searched the lists for previous posts with the same problem and I tried to figure out if it has been

LDAP issue, access denied adding machine to domain, and LDAP user can't make unix-login on the box.
Hi,
I have a LDAP backend for my Samba 3.0.2, and everything seems to work
except adding XP machines to the domain, and unix logins with a ldap client.
Since this mail is very long, I have created a small index, so you don't
get exhaustet in the middle of all the logs... ;)
1. LDAP user-creation
2. Group info
3. pam/nss info
4. smb.conf [global]

Samba 3.0.22-11 as PDC with openLDAP 2.3.19 => Problem with Shares
Hi there!
To set up a samba PDC with openLDAP on my openSUSE 10.1 x86_64 I followed
this howto: http://en.opensuse.org/Howto_setup_SUSE_10.1_as_Samba_PDC
Every service seems to be running now but now I'm stuck. I was able to join
a clean Windows XP Pro test machine to my Domain and I'm able to log on as
normal LDAP user. The home-share is mounted and even a login script

Can't login
Friends,
I am having a very strange problem that I can't debug. Please help.
I am using ldapsam which was working fine last night. Today without
having done anything, I cannot login.
"pdbedit -Lv" lists all the users
"passwd user" changes the password in openldap -- sometimes the user is
not found
Here's the message from samba pc-client.log

Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
I managed to do migration using "classicupgrade".
Doing tests with debian buster 2:4.9.4+dfsg-4.
For the moment using samba internal dns and sub-domain of ad.advocap.org.
Had issue forwarding dns if I used main domain.
When it comes to real production will use bind that I understand better
but don't want to mess with my other dns servers now.
Had a w10 box join samba4 ad

Samba-LDAP:Ldap call each time you open a text file?
Hello,
When I open a text file on a Samba fileserver using LDAP for
authentication, Samba always makes these LDAP calls (see below). The user
has been authenticated so why does Samba still makes these LDAP connections?
Any ideas?
/var/log/ldap.log when opening a text file.

First time you mentioned nslcd, but no matter, use:
map group uniqueMember member

Upgrade from 4.9.8 to 4.10.3 on Centos using Sernet Packages
Hello Cristian,
Well, nothing to say about your steps, these looks good.
And lmdb could be disable in the sernet packages, cant say, i dont know.
And only one DC has these problems or all? If only one DC crashed.
Which DC crashes. Last added? Oldest?

Louis

After Classic Upgrade
Hello all,
we recently did an classic upgrade of our NT-style domain with LDAP
backend to AD (Version 4.4.9-SerNet on CENTOS 7). We had some small
issues but all in all it worked pretty good.
Now we are in production with 3 DC and have some
questions/observations:
-- We used to have a WINS server in our old domain and we kept this
running without change. Is it possible to migrate this to the DCs?
