What OS are you using ?
What is in smb.conf ?
What is in /etc/krb5.conf ?
what is in /etc/resolv.conf ?
what is in /etc/hosts ?
what is in /etc/hostname ?
what is the ipaddress of the AD DC ?

Login not possible / machine account issues
Hi guys,
about a one or two weeks ago I've updated my samba to v4.1.7 which
might or might not relate to the problem at hand.
However lately we've seen some issues with users not able to login to
workstations (win 7). Windows servers (2008 r2 and newer) were also
affected.
Sometimes one or two reboots would solve this problems, on few

Hi everyone,
I'm posting here because I'm facing a kerberos authentication problem after
the 2:4.13.17~dfsg-0ubuntu1.20.04.4 samba upgrade.
The clients, win10, win11, win2016 cannot login to AD anymore.
On server logs the authentication succeeded but in the Event Viewer on the
client I have this error:
Security-Kerberos
The Kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the

The following article by Microsoft was updated on 2016-10-14: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3167679
It acknowledges the problem and proposes to set a registry key to enable NTLM authentification. Fot the details see paragraph "Known issue 7" in the article linked above.

Hi All,
Our users started having issues late last week when trying to change their
passwords. They receive the following message:
"The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please
ensure that you can contact the server that authenticated you."
Client computers are running Windows 7 Ultimate & Enterprise x64. We are
