adding Windows client reverse dns entries
Once again, reading here and there and I am confused. I thought the W clients (both W7 and W10) reverse dns PTR records where added by the ADDC automatically. This mornings testing (nslookup of client IP addresses) is not finding clients via their IP addresses. (Forward lookups via hostname work fine.) Do we (users of samba4) need to add each W client to our dns servers? (Grated this would

Pointer to upgrade 7960sip beyond v3.2.0?
Slightly off topic, but maybe some can suggest something off list... Trying to upgrade a 7960 that was running skinny. I've got sip v3.2.0 installed and running, and am able to place calls via *, etc. However, when upgrading to v4.4.0 I can never get to the point of being able to place a call (eg, no dialtone, etc). I can ping the phone, look at the Network Config, etc, but I can't

raising domain and forest levels
I am seeing domain and forest levels for 2012R2 mentioned in the wiki pages. Has anyone in a production environment "raised" their domain and forest levels to 2012R2 yet? Am I correct that this would only apply to v4.5.0 or higher? -- _______________________________ Bob Wooden of Donelson Trophy

server services line
Rowland, I have seen you state this before that "server services" line within a smb.conf file is not necessary on a DC. I have to ask, and it may have been asked before but, I recently install from source the v4.5.0 and during provisioning samba created that "line" within the smb.conf file. I understand what and why your saying this but, if the line is not needed then why

Demote a dead PDC: residuals in "DNS" console
Thank you for hint to this VBS script. In fact I alraedy saw it but I'm not too confident in my VB knowledge, so I didn't use that script, prefering rely on Samba command and shell scripts to work around issues. You spoke about SOA record which wasn't changed, same here. There is another DNS record I had to change: _ldap._tcp.pdc._msdcs.samba.domain.tld. I spoke about removing

How about giving commit ID in release notes
Hello developers, Your release notes from libvirt(https://libvirt.org/news.html) are really helpful to our users and QAs. How about giving commit ID of each item in release notes, so that our user can gather more info from release notes. For example,in v4.5.0 release note, add commit ID on each item: capabilities: Provide info about host IOMMU support Capabilities XML now provide information about

demoted AD remains in samba-tool drs showrepl
Dear list, in this corona crisis a delivery of a AD to a location abroad takes longer than I expected. I demoted the AD which is in delivery with samba-tool domain demote --remove-other-dead-server=ADDC3 If I know trigger a samba-tool drs showrepl I still see him in the list: CN=Configuration,DC=example,DC=com ???
