Unable to set up home share correctly
Hello Rowland, thank you for your swift reply. I made the modifications you suggested, which unfortunately did not better the situation. No change as to the "Creator Owner" rights and the Administrator account still shown as locked. Also, I couldn't spot any suspicious messages in the Samba logfiles besides maybe get_referred_path: |profiles| in dfs path

Hello Rowland, Am 13.10.2016 um 18:25 schrieb Rowland Penny via samba: > It sounds like you don't have IDMU installed, not sure if you can > install it on 2012. are you trying to say that I should install "Identity Management for Unix" on a Windows Server 2012? If yes, I am afraid we have a misunderstanding here: I don't use any Windows Server in my set-up. I use a

GPO Permissions _AGAIN_
Hi all, I'm afraid I'm back to my old issue of GPO permissions. I have two ADDCs providing an AD Domain (internal.stmaryscollege.co.uk (short-name 'SMC')). Servers are called 'ad-01' and 'tainan'. ad-01 is 'Version 4.0.10' and tainan is 'Version 4.1.0rc4' (the latest version in the package repos of the respective OSs (arch and gentoo)) I have

Computer accounts belonging to groups, using winbind on file server
Hi All, Some time ago I reluctantly moved DC functionality off my file server and onto a separate machine, due to the well-known challenges using the same machine as both a file server and a DC. This went mostly fine, with one exception - I have one piece of functionality that worked before, but I still don't have working now. I use wpkg for software distribution, having all relevant

idmap_ad and RFC2370 (inconsistent results)
Hi everyone. I'm encountering problems with the management of the id of the users, in the DC and in the domain members (RFC2370). I'm using Samba Version 4.2.10-Debian on Debian8.5. This is the DC configuration / result. root at samba4:/var/lib/samba# cat /etc/samba/smb.conf |grep -v '#' [global] workgroup = MYNET realm = ad.mynet.lan netbios name = SAMBA4 server

Unable to set up home share correctly
Hello Rowland, the home folder creation works now(!) It was a misunderstanding on my side. The key phrase in the wiki is: "Close the users properties window with „OK“ to save the modification. **The users home directory is created on the fly during the save processes.**" This is a different behaviour as with the "profiles" folders which are created during the first login

dbApply and data.frame
Hallo again I now succeeded in using dbApply on my data and I can convert it into a data.frame. But as Peter Dalgaard pointed out I his answer to my earlier question (Re: [R] list to data frame, 17.07.2003) I get one row and 10000 columns instead of what I want two columns and 10000 rows when I convert the list that dbApply returns to a Data frame. The list I want to convert looks like this

NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \* on Samba AD - out of the blue
I have a Samba AD running Samba 4.7.5. Everything was working fine, when, seemingly out of the blue, the users started to be denied access to all shares. If I try from a Windows 7 or Windows 10 machine, logged in as a user in "Domain Uses", I get: "Windows cannot access \\server-name\share_name. You do not have permission to access \\server-name\share_name" If I use

Samba 4.5.3 AD DC - issues with sysvol when setting up Group Policies
Also, I'm not sure whether this has any relevance to the problem but I did at one point try to set up a secondary AD server but was struggling to get it going so demoted it using "Demote an Offline Domain Controller" from this page https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Demote_a_Samba_AD_DC I also went through the "Verifying the Demotion" checks on this page and all looked

Samba Permissions Problem
I need help understanding what is happening and trouble shooting. I have two servers running Samba 2.3.3, one as a Domain Controller one as a Member Server. Both are running Ubuntu 8.10. smbd, nmbd and winbindd using the tdb back end are running on both. I have two shares on the member server and as far as I can tell they are identical. [Projects] works as expected but [Windows] always asks
