Classic upgrade - no email addresses
Hi Rowland,
Perhaps I misled you with my wording. Each user has just one email
address, which was not migrated across. From where I'm sitting that
looks like a very serious bug.

John

Migration Of Records From Old Samba Domain To New One
Thank you for taking time to do this, Andrew. But, of course, it will be too late for me.
I’ve just returned from exile, where I went on a spirit quest of sorts. Except that, on this quest, I was obliged to keep my distance until I had found a way to export and import all users, groups and group membership from my old samba domain to my new one.
I updated schema to support Kerio Connect using

Upgrading Samba 4.2 to 4.4
We're upgrading (Sernet) Samba 4.2 to 4.4. As recommended on this page:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Updating_Samba, I have upgraded one of
out 2 DCs, the one that does not have any FSMO roles. We will spend the
next week making sure everything works as expected. So far, so good.
One thing I'm not clear on is whether I should move the FSMO roles to
the upgraded DC before upgrading

samba 4 ad member - idmap = ad for machine accounts [SOLVED]

Manually is relative :-) I scripted the bunch of PC's by first finding out
at which uidNumber I could start counting and then put everything (PC and
uid Numbers) in a loop. You could use ldbmodify, but since it was a small
edit and not much PC's I used ldbedit like this:

Ldapsearch against Samba 4
Hi Andrew,
I don't understand why 2 systems running the exact same version of Samba
have different behaviour. Is this an option I can disable?

Modify email entry on AD users
Hello,
I have about 1000 users who are without the email attribute and would like
to update this.
Via "samba-tool user edit" is it possible? If so, any examples?
Via "ldapmodify" I believe that it is possible?! How can I do this directly
in a command?
Thanks!!

Samba 4 "Services for UNIX"? [SOLVED]
To get the automount schema to work with the git checkout of samba 4 I had
to modify the automount schema files and separate the attributes from the
classes. I also discovered that it's required to have the
ntSecurityDescriptor , instanceType, and objectCategory attributes. Without
these it will crash whenever you try to browse... I did alot of stopping
samba, tarring of /usr/local/samba and

4.2.1 Indexing attributes
Hi all,
System is Centos 7 and Samba is 4.2.1 sernet version.
The database contains 120k users and 150k computers. It's size is 3.3GB on
DC01 where the imports were performed and 2.8GB on the second DC.
I was trying to index uid attribute and I have a strange behaviour.
According to

classicupgrade - resolving group conflicts
Greetings -
In an offline-test environment, I just took a first crack at a classic
upgrade of our Samba 3.6.9 (389-DS LDAP backend) environment to Samba
4.1.13 AD. Among other issues, I see that we have some group/SID issues
to address. From the upgrade output:
Could not add group name=guests ((68, "samldb: Account name

Samba 4 two DCs no matching UID/GID
Why only Domain Users and Domain Admins? I can't follow.
But a good idea you've had. So a script can possibly be run on every DC the same. I will check and verify.
What about built-in objects like system? These are not available in ADUC if my memory doesn't fail now.
Will there be a problem when other built-in objects get a rfc gid/uid. E.g. for now wbinfo resolves uid 0 for
