Bind_DLZ and two AD DC
My first Active Directory setup had two DC's and shortly after getting
things going the second DC created a hardware failure issue and I just
continued life with one DC.
Now, while upgrading I am returning to two DC's.
In a normal Bind9 "master and slave" setup the master always "feeds" the
slave.
With Bind9_DLZ setup (recommended to be used with Samba4) there is

linux client join DC how?
I did a fresh install of Debian with the desktop. I know from Ubuntu
that the network is handled differently in the desktop and the server
versions. So, I am assuming it is a similar situation with Debian. I
could be wrong but . . .
When kerberos installs via the script it (the script) suggests accepting
the 'defaults on the next three screens.' The first screen included the

bug 11573
I am building a 64bit machine for a DC (CentOS 7) following the
instructions on the Samba wiki.
Installed Samba 4.3.1.tar.gz and when I try to provision the domain I
get: ERROR(ldb): uncaught exception - operations error at
../source4/dsdb/samdb/ldb_modules/password_hash.c:2241
Search the string and it is bug 11573 (assigned to Andrew.)
I realize that he will work on it when he gets time

checking replication after Samba update
I have updated from Samba 4.5.0 to 4.6.2 on my second DC and all appears
good, so far.
On the "https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Updating_Samba" [1] page of the
documentation in section "Updating Multiple Samba Domain Controllers".
The last line " . . . and always verify that the replication is working
correctly."
The replication discussed here. Is this the

raising domain and forest levels
I am seeing domain and forest levels for 2012R2 mentioned in the wiki
pages.
Has anyone in a production environment "raised" their domain and forest
levels to 2012R2 yet?
Am I correct that this would only apply to v4.5.0 or higher?

member server resolv.conf question
Yesterday I was "tailing" a log file (nmbd, I think) and noticed
complaints by my member server that there was another "domain master" at
the ipaddress on my DC1.
This morning Windows clients are being denied updates to
"116.168.192.in-addr-arps/IN" (which I believe is the reverse zone.)
I think I have an error in my smb.conf file for this server as I have

linux client join DC how?
I have seen mentioned in other posts that when joining a DC with your
linux client there is a way to do it and NOT use Powerbroker Open (new
name for Likewise-Open).
Where do I find this procedure?

cannot update apt-get
You are correct. I discovered (a few minutes ago) that
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian-wheezy-sernet.list had the duplicate line
within it.
Funny thing was, when I "comment out" the duplicate line, that
"commented out" the single entry within the file. All other lines were
already 'commented out'. So, after 'apt-get update' ran without error, I
went back and
