dnsupdate_nameupdate_done - Failed DNS update
Thank you Denis and Rowland - I didn't realise this was the script, makes
sense now.
I've run it (on dc2) and it gets as far as:
need update: SRV _ldap._tcp.mysite._sites.ForestDnsZones.mydomain.org.uk
dc2.mydomain.org.uk 389
[lots of updates needed]
10 DNS updates and 0 DNS deletes needed
Successfully obtained Kerberos ticket to DNS/dc1.mydomain.org.uk as DC2$
and then it fails here:

dnsupdate_nameupdate_done - Failed DNS update
Thank you Rowland.
I have a couple of reverse zones (different subnets across sites), yes,
these are in Samba AD/DNS as well.
Where are you looking in the logs - I'm missing seeing the bit that shows
an update happening then failing?
I tried tcpdump to find out what the query was that was failing, but I
couldn't see any updates, just queries :(

OK, the code from samba_dnsupdate :
nsupdate_cmd = lp.get('nsupdate command')
[....]
cmd = nsupdate_cmd[:]
cmd.append(tmpfile)
ret = subprocess.call(cmd, shell=False, env=env)
And
$ sudo /usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool testparm --parameter-name=nsupdate\
command
/usr/bin/nsupdate -g
But, I don't have anything called nsupdate anywhere on my machine, which I

After upgrade to 4.9.4, internal DNS no longer working
I was too quick to send my previous email. It can't really be a problem of
the package since I have, as mentioned, another system with the exact same
setup and the exact same package versions and it all works there...

After upgrade to 4.9.4, internal DNS no longer working
The two systems I'm referring to are on different domains, different
locations. No connection whatsoever except me being the one administering
both.
According to oEMInformation the server was provisioned by 4.3.3. I just
checked the Samba log file and it seems that version 4.7.4 was running
before the update.
I'm now looking at the logs right before the upgrade and indeed, there have

readonly DC?
Hello Samba-ers,
I tried to continue my Samba setup after a long pause doing other stuff.
To recall, I want to run two Samba DCs for one domain as virtual machines on
two Windows systems (I switched from VirtualBox to Hyper V, which helps to
run them automatically at system startup, but I donĀ“t think that really
matters). Both DCs shall use themselves as DNS server as the VPN in between

samba 4.4.5 DC with bind9: DNS update failing with NOTAUTH
Hello,
I'm trying to join a samba 4 DC to an already existing samba 4 DC, both
with BIND9_DLZ. Samba is at version 4.4.5, bind is version 9.10.4-P1,
all brand new.
The existing DC runs fine, but the added DC refuses to update its local
bind database: every attempt to update the local DNS results in "update
failed: NOTAUTH". AD replication works perfectly.
Both systems are set

Problem with Samba 4.0.4 to 4.1.19 update
Good morning friends,
I have the following structure:
Centos 6.6
1) AD samba using .tgz package
2) using the proxy Sernet packages which use command: samba-tool domain join XXX.corp DC -U Administrator --realm = XXX.corp and set the squid via NTLM.
Issues:
1) after the update I get the following messages in / var / log / messages:
Aug 13 04:08:56 kernel samba: Out of memory: Kill process

RNDC errors using SAMBA_INTERNAL_DNS
Hi all,
I've set up a simple domain using Samba 4.4.2 from source under Ubuntu
16.04.
I accepted the usual defaults and basically followed wiki.samba.org to
the letter. The main thing is I'm using Samba's internal DNS and not
Bind (Bind is not even installed on the system).
In the log.samba file on the first DC I kept getting this:
[2016/04/28 17:01:02.716292, 0]

DC2: TKEY is unacceptable, Failed DNS update?
I installed
two virtual machines with Samba as domain controllers for the same domain. I
was struggling with network and DNS configuration initially, maybe my problem
is related.
DC1 starts
up ok, the last line of the log reads
STATUS=daemon
'samba' finished starting up and ready to serve connections
DC2 starts
with plenty of lines

DNS Update not working after update to 4.5.3
I suspect a zone overlap.
Did you add an extra zone manualy in bind?
Or something like this... You added :
Zone1.Domain.TLD and then
Domain.TLD
But then with the reverse zones.
Because this :

> has no NS records
Does not look likes the samba_DLZ log lines but a pure bind log line.
Review you bind config and
