web admin ui for samba AD
This thread has me thinking about good ways to use python with web pages.
Maybe php or just flat HTML for the main page and have python work with cgi
to pass information with json's using AJAX
Any thoughts on this?
I started using php many years ago and always ended up using php itself the
same way with an HTML page heavy with javascript that made ajax calls to
update itself from other php

How much Ruby?
I bought the pickaxe about 1 1/2 months ago, and I have been reading through
it and learning Ruby in my spare time. I''m about 200 pages into it, and I''m
starting to think I don''t need to know all of the in''s and out''s of Ruby to
get a good hang on Rails.
How much Ruby do I really need to be proficient in Rails? Ruby is a great
language, I love it, but

Background music during a call
Hi All,
I am in desperate need of this feature. I want to play background music
during a call while the 2 parties are having some lovely conversation (or
maybe give them a sort of cursing background if they are cursing each
other). I found this post which talks about creating a ghost call with the
help of queues and putting that queue in a meetme room where queue will play
the song/curse and the

Asterisk Centos RPM packages question
Hello,
Trying to upgrade (from asterisk18-1.8.6.0-1) to the latest RPM
version from Asterisk repo I found that asterisknow-version is needed
by package asterisk18-core-1.8.7.0-2
How could this be explained?
Best regards,
Ioan

cgi is probably not what you want to do
I doubt you want to make things complex by mixing php and

Vampire Migrate NT4 to Samba-LDAP PDC. Access error
Hi,
I'm a informatics engineering student and I am working on a factory placement which consists of migrating an NT4 based network upon Red Hat Linux AS 3.
I took the manual from www.samba.org <http://www.samba.org/> and adapted the variables as suitable for my case.
The only one moment where I cannot carry on anymore is when I am supposed to use net rpc vampire on the PDC.

Asterisk repository: asterisk14-addons-mysql
Hello,
We have chosen to upgrade our Trixbox installations (2.6.2.3, asterisk
1.4.20) and everything work smooth.
The problem we face now is that asterisk14-addons-mysql looks to have
not been compiled with uniqueID feature and we are asking your opinion
about what should be the best fix for this problem.
Our workarround was to overwrite (from backup) the cdr_addon_mysql.so
module, but this is

Accessing Facter in other languages than Ruby?
Hi all,
We''re writing a few scripts at the moment that could really make use of
Facter, however the vast majority of them team (including my self!) are not
proficient in Ruby, however they are highly proficient in other languages such
as (dare I say it!) Python.
Is there (or are there any plans to!) release bindings for other languages to
enable facts to be used in scripts other

Access to fw from only 1 specific IP on the internet
I''m a bit confused about the zones vs. rules regulatives.
Scenario:
I''m setting up an firewall for a friend with loc, net and dmz zones (and
ofcourse the firewall itself fw).
I need to be able to remotely administrate it, either through ssh or
webinterface, because of the physical distance.
lets asume my public IP at home is 80.80.80.80
Would it (if we focus on ssh connection

Article - a method on how to evaluate an Asterisk server
Hello all,
I would like to share with you an article [1] we have issued last week
(sorry, currently only in Romanian language - we plan to provide an
English version soon).
This article is describing a method to be used for obtaining the
maximum number of SIP simultaneous calls an Asterisk server could
process safely (meaning no errors/maintain control of the machine and
without RTP frame drops)
