Samba + nmblookup
Hi Everyone, >From windows 2K, machine I could see Samba server but I can't get its share. I tried to follow the instruction given at http://samba.planetmirror.com/samba/ftp/docs/Samba24Hc13.pdf to resolve the problem. nmblookup -U 127.0.0.1 _SAMBA_ and nmblookup -B 10.10.255.255 real-samba-server-name fails for me but nmblookup -U 127.0.0.1 real-samba-server-name

Linux SSO with samba4?
Hi, I think it is great that samba4 has a single sign on solution for Windows platforms and it seems to work well too, but I am wondering is it possible to do the same for a Linux environment? I have been studying how to implement single sign on using the Ubuntu way through this document: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SingleSignOn and I am wondering if I can do the same with samba4 where the

Single Sign On
We have a network of PCs running XP and servers running Win 2k and Win 2003. User Account management is done with Active Directory (AD). We want to add some Sun Solaris computers to this network. One of the network guys said that Samba could be used as a single sign on solution for a network of Windows and Solaris computers. He said that Samba 3.x provided the capability to use Active

Hi all, I was wondering what kind of password encryption is used into LDB file to store user's password. Our users are authenticating against some OpenLDAP tree to access their applications. We would like to add some field on this OpenLDAP to generate Samba4 valid password when users are connecting against it, to be able then to copy this field into our Samba4 users for they have same

Samba4 as AD, what password hash is used?
Hi, Thank you for this answer, unfortunately I was not able to re-hash password as they are hashed into LDB database. First I retrieved the hash: ldbsearch -H $sam '(cn=some user)' unicodePwd # record 1 dn: CN=some user,OU=Users Management,DC=ad,DC=example,DC=com unicodePwd:: COwwLgiqqaHRyhy4HxWp4A== This "unicodePwd" attribute comes from a quick search into "user"

Cannot copy file to Samba share
Hi, I have a very odd issue - I cannot copy a large-ish (1.1GB) ISO file to a Samba share on a specific server, and having spent a couple of days on the issue, I'm running out of things to try, and I'm hoping for some suggestions. The destination system is an old P4 system on a Via based motherboard (P4MA Pro). It has two IDE disks, a Maxtor 40GB on IDE channel 1 as the system disk,

Samba4 DC with Secondary Questions
Hello all. I am currently working on setting an S4 domain to replace our aging samba 3 setup. We have found many answers on the net, in various documentation, but when it comes to setting up beyond one node documentation becomes a little thinner. We are setting up a Primary DC with AD, using BIND9_DLZ, also serving dhcp from Primary, and we want to setup a Secondary that is both a

Samba authentication against Linux-based Kerberos
Hi, please consider the following situation in a heterogenous, Windows Server-less network, where users use both Windows and Linux: - On Windows users authenticate against a Samba 3.3.2 PDC with tdbsam backend. - On Linux users authenticate against a combination of OpenLDAP and Kerberos. This, of course, brings up the old problem that users have to synchronise their passwords manually for both

Asterisk authentication on LDAP (SSHA and SHA passwords)
hello guys, I'm working on a federal university at Brasil, we already have an openLdap with all users and this base is used to authenticate several services like email, vpn, wireless (RADIUS), and we have also Shibboleth providing SSO. During my studies of Asterisk, i see a lot of people talking about the incapacity of asterisk (more precisely because of SIP) to authenticate against a
