NT4 PDC w/Exchange 5.5 migration
Hello, I'm working on migrating an NT4 PDC to a Samba 3 PDC. The tricky part, is that the NT4 server is also running Exchange 5.5 which needs to remain running. So unlike a migrate and toss the NT4 system, I need to migrate, then demote the NT4 PDC to an NT4 Server, then (probably) rejoin the domain as Exchange Server will not run on a non-domain member system. Basically looking for any

NT4 SP3 PDC with MS Exchange 5.5 to Samba 3.x ldapbacked PDC and MS Exchange 5.5 still
Looking to make some changes to an old but working LAN, that has about 10 samba servers serving printers and network shares and a NT 4 PDC server with Exchange 5.5 on it. The samba servers are members of the nt4 domain, XP systems are members of the nt 4 domain also. Samba servers are ldapbacked. We use the ldap component directly to login to the Linux servers. I'd like to be able to

problem with domain and samba3x
Hi all About 18 months ago I connected 14 new Windows 7 PCs to a Centos5.1 server with samba3x as domain members. There are no other servers on site. Today, I had to visit to connect up a PC in a new location. As I would normally do I checked for Centos updates and found 35 outstanding including samba3x 3.6.23-12.el5_11 and samba3x-client, samba3x-common, samba3x-doc, samba3x-domainjoin-gui,

NT4 with Samba4
Have a need to support one NT4 server in one environment and trying to escape the past a bit by upgrading the PDC which currently runs Samba-3.6.24. So far my testing has shown that Samba4-4.5 as a PDC appears to work just fine. I can even install Exchange 5.5 on the test NT4 server in this environment. However attempting the same Exchange 5.5 installation when running Samba4 in AD mode it

SMB encryption
Hi all, A - I thought badlock mitigation was about encrypting SMB traffic, at least most part of it. And this encryption of most part of data transfer could (or should) lower performances. It seems I was wrong: smallest part (something like commands) are encrypted but not SMB traffic (ie file transfer). This for SMB protocol prior to SMB3 (which comes with windows 8). B - According to what I

Samba 3 + Exchange 5.5
Hi Everybody, I've been asked to upgrade an old NT4 server with a new server running Debian/Samba. I've got no problem with migrating the old server, but I do have one "unknown". The company mail run on an Exchange server that is most likely part of the NT4 network. Has anybody tried this setup? I did look in documentation and google and found precious little - which to me

Exchange 5.5 on a Samba Domain
Hi, I recently migrated from an NT4 Domain to a Samba domain with LDAP backend. We use Exchange 5.5 on NT4 as our mail/groupware. All existing users on the domain appear to be using the Exchange Server without any problems. However, when i create new users they cannot access their mail box'es from Outlook. The Event log on the Exchange Server reports the following error : > A logon

Cannot join server to Samba4 NT4 domain
I have a Samba 4 NT4 PDC (Version 4.1.17-Debian) with openLDAP. I would like to add another server, and have it authenticate users against openLDAP. I thought I had to add the new server to the domain with "net rpc join", but that seems to think I want to join an AD domain, and fails: # net rpc join -U root%mypassword No realm has been specified! Do you really want to join

similarity matrix conversion to dissimilarity
I have a matrix of similarity scores that I want to convert into a matrix of dissimilarity scores so that I can apply some clustering methods to the data. That is, high values in my matrix signify similarity and low values (zero being the lowest) signify no similarity. What functions/options in R or its packages are available for making this kind of transformation of a matrix?
