I would like to start testing this? I saw a few months back Alexander
Bokovoy Released a build for F23 and I started using that. Now that F24 is
out I have to look for a way to upgrade. Is there a build for rawhide with
this? The standard samba-ad package for rawhide that install still doesn't
come with samba-tool. And compiling samba 4.4.5 with-mit-krb5
automatically disables ad support it

Heimdal Kerberos in Samba4
As we wanted to test last Samba version we had to compile Samba manually
once 4.3.0 went out.
As we wanted to continue to deploy Samba using system's package manager, we
decided to built our own RPM.
As I hate RPM, I had to learn. As I'm lazy, I tried to not waste too much
time learning RPM.
So I downloaded .spec from Sernet's package 4.2.x, I modified that .spec to
match new Samba

updating Fedora-rawhide this morning I see 4.5.0rc1 has arrived. And still
no samba-tool so I looked at installing from source with
dnf download --source samba
rpm -i samba*src.rpm
looking at the spec file I see a section
%if ! %with_dc
--without-ad-dc \
%endif
How do I tell rpmbuild with_dc?

sssd with ad backend and "ldap_id_mapping = false" refuse to start
Hello,
we are using sssd version 1.12 on openSUSE 13.1 with Sernet-Samba
Packages 4.1.11. Samba runs as a single AD DC
We have removed the complete openSUSE samba stuff before testing. sssd
runs on the same machine as samba.
Our sssd config:

services = nss, pam

SerNet Samba RPMs for SuSE and RedHat
Hi Samba-Folks,
there are Samba 3.0.8 RPMs available now on the SerNet ftp-server:
ftp://ftp.sernet.de/pub/samba/
Currently we have built 3.0.8 for
SuSE 8.2
SuSE 9.0
SuSE 9.1
SuSE 9.2 (i386 and x86_64)
SLES 8 (i386)
SLES 9 (i386 and x86_64)
RHEL3 (i386)
s390 and s390x versions for SLES will follow later.
be aware that our RHEL3 RPMs have a different package style than the RPMs

Strange ID-Mapping behavior
Hey,
id mapping is accessible from net command:
net cache list
you can also clean that cache:
net cache flush
After flushing the cache your users and groups having uidNumber and/or
gidNumber should work as expected (ie using their AD declared uid/gid).
Cheers,
mathias

Replication issues / local DRS authentication failure
Hello,
I've having recurring issues with the second DC in my Samba AD domain. I've
demoted/removed the second DC a number of times and re-provisioned it.
It'll work for a bit and then replication breaks.
Since replication is broken I've been doing the following to remove it:
DC-02
systemctl stop samba
systemctl disable samba
DC-01
samba-tool domain demote

Strange ID-Mapping behavior
Hi list,
on one of our servers I found a strange id-mapping behavior. The server
acts as an AD-DC and fileserver. We user the sernet-samba packages in
version 4.2.9 on openSUSE leap 42.1.
We use the rfc3207 extension for Posix attributes. Every group has a
full set of posix-attributes. Our gidNumbers are calculated by RID plus
20000.
If i ask for id-mappings, "wbinfo" shows for

Samba 3.0.7, SuSE 8.2 and Heimdal Compile Problem
Trying to follow Chapter 9.3.3 of S3BE to create a SuSE 8.2 Active Directory
domain member server.
9.3.3 says heimdal >= .6 is required. I installed the Sernet packages and saw
0.6.2 source is included. Running ./configure after unpacking the heimdal
source completes OK, but running make results in the following errors:

Could somebody please confirm that they are actually using 8.1-R with
heimdal as a KDC successfully? A little confirmation would help me greatly.

Does OpenSSH+GSSAPI interoperate between Heimdal and MIT?
I have a freshly installed FreeBSD 6.0-BETA1 system, which comes with Heimdal
& OpenSSH w/GSSAPI enabled (version 4.1p1 FreeBSD-20050605) Most of the
servers I connect to have OpenSSH w/GSSAPI enabled but they use MIT Kerberos
(1,3.x and 1.4.x) Now, I can use ticket authentication between all systems
where the libraries are all the same (Heimdal or MIT), but trying to use, for
