Samba 4.4.5 exists with segmention fault on FreeBSD 10.3 during domain provision
Hi Michael, I'm facing the same problem, samba 4.4.x is apparently broken on FreeBSD for now. Here's a link to the bug https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=209787 For now the port maintainer seem out of ideas to fix this. You seems more skilled then me on freebsd, maybe you can help him on this bug :) DS On 07/20/2016 02:17 AM, Michael Osipov wrote: > Hi folks,

Problem with `profiles`
I'm trying to move some roaming profiles from Domain A to B. All of the profiles are from XP SP3. The originating machine is Debian 5/AMD64, samba 3.4.5 from Debian packages. The destination machine is Ubuntu 9.10, but x86. From everything I've read and found online, `profiles` is supposed to work for XP with no problems. When I attempt to do a SID change on NTUSER.DAT, I get

Running off pre-created keytabs
Hi folks, we'd like to provision new Samba servers (file sharing only) with the system keytab. It will precreated by some other process (msktutil) because we don't have direct access to a domain admin account. Is there any degragation in functionality by not using "secrets and keytab" and not doing "net ads join"? This is somewhat similiar to my question from

is it safe to encode/decode uid_t/gid_t in 4 bytes?
Hi, Samba internally uses 8 bytes to encode/decode uid_t/gid_t, e.g., _PUBLIC_ enum ndr_err_code ndr_push_uid_t(struct ndr_push *ndr, int ndr_flags, uid_t u) { NDR_PUSH_CHECK_FLAGS(ndr, ndr_flags); return ndr_push_hyper(ndr, NDR_SCALARS, (uint64_t)u); } I want to know if it is safe to use 4 bytes to reduce the size in storing security_info in tdb. I am not aware of if there is

net ads join fails with pre-created machine accounts
Hi folks, we have recently tried to join several FreeBSD machines to your forest where the machine accounts where pre-created by the core admin team. We did as root: # kinit 'machine-name$' # net ads join ... Unfortunately, it failed with an error that several attributes cannot be set which are available to domain admins only. It ultimately means that one cannot use pre-created

Problem with /usr/bin/profiles "Could not get rootkey"
Hi. Current host OS: CentOS5.9 Current client OS: Windows XP (all the latest stuff) Current Samba: 3.6.6-0.129.el5 Ever since 3.4 I am having problems with the "/usr/bin/profiles" binary, it does NOT allow me to change a SID within a registry file. However, using an older version of the binary (3.0.33-3.29.el5_5.1) it does. If I execute the following command (note the last 4 digits on

how to build smbtorture using static linked libraries
Hello all: I am trying to build smbtorture using static linked libraries. The samba source code I have is samba-4.1.13 for configure, I did: waf configure --builtin-libraries=ALL for build, I did: waf build --targets=smbtorture (so that it only build target smbtorture) But, the waf build fails immediately. Then, I tried to only link with lib talloc and tevent statically, so I did: waf

Cannot change SID on NTUSER.DAT file
Hi. I have just changed to the latest version of samba on a CentOS 5.4 machine as I now have Win7 computers in the domain. [root] #>smbd -V Version 3.5.4-0.83.el5_7.2 On the old version (I think 3.0.29) I was able to change the SID on any NTUDER.DAT file happily. Now I cannot change SID on any NTUSER.DAT file. However, I can log into the domain using the username that is attached to the

smbd panic due to negative exclusive oplock count
Hi, I'm facing an issue with at least two Samba servers in production both showing important number of log entries like: smbd[27355]: PANIC: assert failed at smbd/oplock.c(149): exclusive_oplocks_open>=0 Looking at the source code, this panic is triggered when the number of exclusive oplocks for a given file becomes negative. Once triggered for one smbd process, this process can

[PATCH] Pet peave then->than
This patch fixes all the incorrect uses of "then" that I could find on the whole SAMBA_4_0 branch. i.e. it is relative to svn://svnanon.samba.org/samba/branches/SAMBA_4_0 at revision 16046. samba and gpfs
Hi all, I've got question (problem?) regarding samba exporting gpfs filesystem. My setup is very simple - gpfs client machine with gpfs filesystem mounted and samba server running on the top of it. I compiled samba with gpfs support, here is my smb.conf section: [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no writable = yes fileid:mapping = fsname use mmap = no
