Problem with Samba 4 samba_dnsupdate
Can you navigate to the domain controller like, \\dcname? Also do the logs tell you anything? Is bind running? Samba? etc? samba_dnsupdate error
Hi, I replicated a new samba 4.5.0 from a samba 4.4.4 (the process took about 5 hours, against 20 hours when replicating a new 4.4.4, thanks!) Everything went well, but I noticed that the dns updates are getting crashs in the new server. See: # samba_dnsupdate --verbose [...] 25 DNS updates and 0 DNS deletes needed ldb_wrap open of secrets.ldb Traceback (most recent call last): File

Changing the IP Address of a Samba AD DC doesn't work - samba_dnsupdate crashes
Hello! I've followed your tutorial to change the IP Address of our Samba AD DC: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Changing_the_IP_Address_of_a_Samba_AD_DC But the samba_dnsupdate tool always crashes with this output: samba_dnsupdate --verbose Unknown parameter encountered: "ks" Ignoring unknown parameter "ks" IPs: ['192.168.68.201'] Looking for DNS entry A

Dynamic DNS Updates not working. samba_dnsupdate : RuntimeError: (sambalist: to exclusive) kinit for [DC@Realm] failed (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
Good morning! First of all thanks Rowland for the fast answer yesterday! I realized that samba-technical might have been the wrong mailing list and switched it to the normal samba users list (hopefully it worked, as it does get a bit confusing with spamgourmets sendto addresses!). Unfortunately the problem with samba_dnsupdate remains after the changes. I did changed the smb.conf, krb5.conf, and

Fresh ADC: Failed DNS update - NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I hopefully cleared all SAMBA files and set up a fresh ADC using: samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --domain=UAC --realm=UAC.MGR --server-role=dc --dns-backend=SAMBA_INTERNAL --targetdir=/srv/files --adminpass="secret" --option="dns forwarder=172.16.6.11" The provisioning seemed okay, i.e. nothing hints at any errors and I see a DOMAIN SID as the final entry as

samba_dnsupdate utility cannot contact KDC realm
I am in the process of trying to setup a Samba 4.0.6 AD DC on Fedora 18, but dnsupdate is not updating the DNS records since I changed the addresses that I have assigned to my NICs. At first I thought the internal server didn't want to work, so I tried getting things setup with Bind (which is working just not with Samba yet). I am wanting to replace our Windows Server 2003 with RHEL 7 (or

Hi everyone, unfortunately, I managed to break my Samba AD DC configuration :-( and would like to ask the experts on this list. When restarting my Samba AC DC I noticed, that it didn't come up properly. samba outputs the following lines to /var/log/syslog > Nov 24 12:46:52 addc01 samba[30784]: /usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate: > RuntimeError: kinit for ADDC01$@MYDOMAIN.LAN failed (Cannot

Shares stopped working for groups
Hi, I have a ClearOS 7.8 system which is running samba-4.10.4-11.el7_8.x86_64, and it upgraded to this just over a week ago (probably not relevant). A couple of days ago all the group shares failed. I discovered that if I switched them to the built-in group "allusers" the share worked fine. It fails for any user-defined group but it used to work. Samba is running as a PDC and the

Samba43 Kerberos issues
Hi There, I have an odd issue with my samba4 infrastructure, I have two servers both replicating fine. DC1 passes all tests documented here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller Except the following test: # kinit administrator # kinit: krb5_get_init_creds: Client (administrator at DOMAIN.NAME.COM.AU) unknown And in the logs I have found the
