wbinfo; --getdcname vs --DSgetdcname
I'm wondering what the difference is between the two wbinfo functions, "getdcname" and "DSgetdcname". The help is not very helpful here: --dsgetdcname /|domain|/ Find a DC for a domain. --getdcname /|domain|/ Get the DC name for the specified domain. I have a Samba4 PDC that is returning different results for these depending upon whether it's run on the

Failover DC did not work when Main DC failed
Is DC4 listed in in an A record for your mycompany.com? Do logs show that it's answering requests during the course of a normal workday? If so ... time to simulate DC3 failure, I guess. Confused about what I am seeing with domain names - --getdcname fails for ad server
Should I expect to see when I run wbinfo --getdcname=domain it return a domain controller for an ad server? It does return a server name for domain_network, the non-ad server. Problem authenticating from standalone servers via Samba 3.0.34 domain member servers to Samba 3.2.5 domain controller
We recently upgraded our PDC from Debian 4 to Debian 5. That entailed an upgrade of Samba from 3.0.24 to 3.2.5. Since the upgrade we've had a very specific problem connecting to shares on a commercial NAS running Samba 3.0.34. The problem happens when users try to connect to shares from standalone servers--e.g., Windows XP Pro boxes that we use for testing. From those boxes users should be

wbinfo with trusted domains
Hi, I just compiled samba 2.2.5 with winbind and successfully joined my domain. wbinfo -t shows the secret is good wbinfo -m shows the trusted domain wbinfo -a will authenticate to the local domain and the trusted domains wbinfo -n will only return a sid if I pass a name in the local domain wbinfo -u only shows users in the local domain but man page says it should show users in trusted

wbinfo -u does not return users from trusted domains
Hi, I'm using samba 4.4.9 in an environment with trusted domains (windows 2k12R2; domain names: res.local, sub.res.local, res2.local). When I use getent passwd/group I can get list of users/groups from all domains (res, sub, res2). However, when I use wbinfo -u/-g I get list of users/groups only from the native domain I am connected to (res). I'am able to fetch users/groups using

PDC with 2 NICs problem
Hello Samba List, I'm running a Samba 3.0.22 PDC on Solaris 9. Things got a bit peculiar when I added a 2nd network interface. The two subnets are a primary network that carries all the client traffic and a tape-backup/admin network that is not accessible to any clients, ie. aaa.bbb.ccc.241 - bge0 - primary network (address suppressed) 192.168.254.254 - bge1 - admin/backup network

Add samba4 as DC to Windows 2000 SP4 (which is DC)
I tried to add my backup samba4 as DC or DC to a Windows 2000 SP4 to synchronize the "user database" and "kill" the Windows to let the SAMBA Instead it without touching the profiles of network clients. First of all to mention what I said Andrew Bartlett: We are working to enable support for Windows 2000 DCs as a target for a 'samba-tool join' (which will then do what

BUG? 'valid users' doesn't allow groups from trusted domains
It appears that you cannot include groups from trusted domains in the 'valid users =' directive on a share. Here is the scenario as I experienced it (names have been changed to protect the innocent): Configuration: - Samba 3.0.21b as a member server in a real NT4 domain (security = domain) called 'NTDOMAIN' - NTDOMAIN has a two-way trust with Windows 2003 Active Directory

Question about KDC Resolution with Samba
I'm running a debug script from this site (Dated 16 Aug 2019, created and maintained by Rowland Penny and Louis van Belle). The script obtains the Linux server DOMAIN by running "hostname -d" which returns "mycorp.com". Next the script runs nslookup -type=SRV _kerberos._tcp.mycorp.com which fails ** server can't find _kerberos._tcp.mycorp.com: NXDOMAIN and the
