Samba + ldap + cannot find domain
So this got me thinking that maybe a chunk of my problem is with LDAP itself on the server. Executing "slapcat" shows me what I believe to be the correct content, including what looks like appropriate content underneath the following: dn: sambaDomainName=DRBHOME,dc=drbhome,dc=ca That seems to answer the question about whether the domain info is actually there. >> Can you also

Dear all, I freshly installed a new smb-server that should act as file server with some smb-shares. The pdc is a Windows 2008 r2 server. Yes, you are right. But it is really only a piece of the problem. You are comming from the 3.5 version of samba. Early in 3.6 some things have changed. > > Executing

Stymied with samba vs openldap SSL ("Failed to issue the StartTLS instruction...")
I know this is something which should have a simple fix but I'm failing to see it somehow. I'm moving samba service between a couple of FreeBSD systems (9.3 to 10.2), and I'm stuck on getting samba on the new machine to connect to our openldap server over ssl - frustrating since I've been running samba+ldap for 15 years or so; feel sure I'm missing something basic!

need recipe for samba to do user authentication against a centos 5.5 openldap server (NO IDMAPS! NO PDC!)
Hi all, Please help Ive been wasting days at this... I am not trying to create a PDC, I am not joining an active directory, I am not needing samba schema in my openldap (or do I?), I am not trying to use winbind and idmaps for translations from SID to UID/GID, I just want my samba server which shares linux home directories to authenticate user+password against my existing linux based openldap

Help with ldap configuration please
This is on RHE4, I am getting an invalid DN error. Is there a good resource site for this type of configuration issue? There is a lot of info that comes up through google but I am having no luck finding anything relevant (or that seems relevant to me). Thank you in advance and sorry about the newbie question. smbd version 3.0.25b started. Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the Samba Team 1992-2007

openldap - samba
I am having a problem getting users that were added in smbldap-useradd to be able to login. After I add them they are visible, but you can see I get this error - pdb_get_group_sid: Failed to find Unix account for test10 I believe that this has something to do with nss_ldap. because doing a getent passwd, it doesn't display any smb info. Any debugging info or help would be amazing, I'm

SID of member server in Samba domain (smbldap_search_domain_info: NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL)
I have a domain with Samba 3 acting as PDC, and using LDAP (passdb backend = ldapsam). I now wanted to add a second Samba 3 machine as a simple file server. I get errors with getdomainsid and getlocalsid, so there is obviously still something wrong with my config. The PDC runs Samba 3.5.6 on Debian Squeeze. Sid queries return: # net getdomainsid SID for local machine MY_PDC_HOST is:

openldap integration failed after power cut
Hi We have a Samba server that authenticates with an openldap server. Or it used to. We had a power cut last week and after a bit of struggling everything came back, but not Samba. Previously our smb.conf file included the line passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://server.domain.net/ With this line in place the connection to the LDAP server fails, and peoples shares drop off every few minutes. samba-tool domain classicupgrade with LDAP backend
Hi I am testing the migration from our actual Samba domain, based on Samba 3.3.8 and LDAP (389DS) to Samba 4. I have followed the Samba4 Howto, and I have successfully compiled it. Now I am running the classicupgrade command, but I am getting some errors. First of them is that the script is ignoring the "ldap group suffix" parameter in smb.conf, and is always searching in the

samba and openldap authentication issues!
Alight, I've been working on this for too many hours straight. Any help would be much appreciated! (I posted this online to linux questions, it could be easier to read on there... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-server-73/samba-and-openldap-authentication-issues-637647/) The problem is users created in smbldap-useradd can not login, unless they also are a local user. for
