NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID in a SDC
Hi All
I have a running SAMBA PDC on Debian Jessie on a PowerPC. I have
backported Samba 4.3.18 and is working well.
I have installed a SDC (if I may use that name) on a different network,
the same version of Samba but on a Debian Jessie on AMD64. I followed
every instruction in
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Join_an_additional_Samba_DC_to_an_existing_Active_Directory.
So every test

NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID in a SDC
Hi
Thanks for you answer
1. Sorry It was a mistype: The version is samba_4.3.8+dfsg-1~bpo80+1.
I backported from stretch to jessie as I want to keep my Debian
environment clean.
I do not fancy to compile it from source. I am a bit old fashion :-) :-) :-)
2. I use PDC and SDC as a legacy from previous versions. I Undestand why
it is outdated but actually, even in Samba4, It is kind of true:

Hi, where did you get 4.3.18 from ??? or do you mean 4.3.8, if so, try
again with 4.3.9, this has some updates for regressions that 4.3.8
introduced.
Oh and a 'PDC' is something else entirely, you have

NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID error
Hello everyone,
I have a Samba setup with an AD controller (DC01) and set up a second
system which should work as file share (filesrv01).
I was setting it up using this manual:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs
Somehow, I broke the administrator's account. After I set up a test
share, I got RPC server unavailable errors. I started investigating and

Rowland, no domain user can authenticate on any system and running
sysvolreset followed by sysvolcheck results in a crash. If the sysvol
permissions are correct, sysvolcheck does not crash. If I attempt to
join a NAS or workstation to the domain I get NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID.
Researching these symptoms turns up a thread about a corrupt idmap.ldb
where a group SID and user SID may be the same or

force user and NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID
Welcome everyone,
I have to bother you and pick up your brains as I struggle to configure
samba the way I want. It's the first time I deal with Samba4 as I'm trying
to migrate boxes running on Centos 5 with Samba3 to Centos 7 with Samba4.
The configuration I use works great on Samba 3 however when I use the same
config on Samba4 I manage to authenticate as the user but once I want to

NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID
OK, I am both panicked and lost now. I stopped Samba, uninstalled,
removed the source directory, removed every Samba directory on the
system (/var/lib/samba, /var/log/samba, /var/cache/samba,
/var/run/samba, /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/samba), rebooted,
cloned 4-5-stable, configured, built, installed, provisioned a new
domain, and this is what I get. I am following the guide to the letter.

OK, I have now tried three versions of Samba and all react the same way.
This tells me that I physically have an issue with a database or
something. Is it going to be faster for me to simply wipe the entire AD,
restore my Windows Server clean install image, and start over? I have
until midnight to make this work. It is 1810hrs now.

NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID
I have a brand-new install of Debian 8 without systemd and a
freshly-built Samba 4 install with issues. I created this as a
standalone AD DC, setup group policies, etc and then took it to the
client location. Now nothing works. I keep getting "RPC server
unavailable" on Windows machines and trying to list shares on the DC
itself results in NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID. I am lost as there are

Corrupted idmap...
I started getting NT_STATUS_INVALID at a client location recently and
now everything has stopped working. Upon a day of searching and testing,
I realized that my idmap.ldb is likely corrupt. How can I recover from
this, shy of creating a new domain from scratch? The NAS devices no
longer authenticate users so files are inaccessible, computers cannot
access the sysvol, and sysvolreset/sysvolcheck

Samba 4.2 AD member accesible by name but not by IP
Hello,
I have a strange problem with Samba AD member:
It is accessible via \\server or \\server.domain.local
But when I try to access it with its IP address, ex. \\10.15.10.1 I get
access denied error and prompt for user and pass. Entering username and
password with or without DOMAIN\ has no effect.
The server is FreeBSD 10.1. It behaves the same way with Samba 4.1.18
and now with Samba 4.2.2
