head scratcher update
perhaps my mind isn't working today. I'm trying to update a system that hasn't been updated in a while which I believe is CentOS 5.2 but it's possible that it's 5.1. I am pretty sure that it has php installed from CentOS-Extras and when I do yum update, it's stumbling on php --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Missing Dependency: php-common = 5.1.6-20.el5_2.1 is

Centos 7 and php 5.5
I am hoping that the wisdom of the group here can at least point me in the right direction. I have a Centos7 server that I need to upgrade php from 5.4 to 5.5. I've tried several tutorials to add the remi repository and enable php55, but I always end up at the same result: Error: Package: php-5.5.38-1.el6.remi.x86_64 (remi-php55) Requires: httpd-mmn = 20051115

robots.txt
Hi all, I have again noticed that the wiki does not really show up in search results and wonder if it has any impact that robots.txt on wiki.centos.org is empty. Perhaps it should at least contain User-agent: * ? Best Regards Marcus

Release 7 1503 includes samba-common.i686 (breaks multilib installs)
Hi, Unfortunately we are getting multilib issues with the latest release of CentOS 7. It seems that samba-common.i686 conflicts with samba-common.x86_64, and therefore Yum multilib support. Is this expected? Thanks, -ben Transaction check error: file /usr/bin/net conflicts between attempted installs of samba-common-0:4.1.12-21.el7_1.i686 and samba-common-0:4.1.12-21.el7_1.x86_64 file

Allow self password change using LDAP(s) with Samba4
Hi all I am trying to create a webapp to allow users to change their own passwords in Samba4 (perhaps, also in AD), using LDAP(s). But when I try to modify the user password using this code: dn: ........ changetype: modify replace: unicodePwd unicodePwd: "Temporal2" I get this error: 0x32 (Insufficient access; error in module acl: insufficient access rights during LDB_MODIFY (50))

Allow self password change using LDAP(s) with Samba4
Hi Thanks all for your responses. The users can now change their own password adding and removing the unicodePwd attribute, using the correct method to generate the password value. Now, I have a problem, because the users who have the option to force to change the password in the next login checked, can't bind to the LDAP server in order to change their password. Is there any way to do this,

Centos 7 and php 5.5
Looks like you are trying to install packages built for EL6 in EL7 I'm fairly certain Remi has EL7 packages for PHP 7. If he doesn't, I have php 5.6.x for EL7 - but it's a radical update because I build against a new apache and LibreSSL which isn't what a lot of people want. https://librelamp.com/ On 08/25/2016 06:47 AM, Richard B. yum adding 7.3 packages to 7.2 system
My system is 7.2.1511. When I run "yum update", it wants to install about 900 packages total. Most are labeled just "el7". A few "el7_1" and a lot are "el7_3" or 7.3. None are 7.2. I'm not surprised when I see 50-100 packages needing an update. But 900? And none specific to the installed system? My last update, of 4 packages, was Dec 31, 2016. I
