Samba Guest Accout Issue
So, after rebuilding and finding that somehow fixed my intial issue of failing to connect to the ldap server, I am now having an issue with the guest account. Any ideas, I've done some searches but haven't been having any luck. This is on RHEL. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Maximum core file size limits now 16777216(soft) -1(hard) get_current_groups: user is in 7 groups:

Samba 3.0.21 and after creates ldapsam:trusted display problems in User Manager?
I recently upgraded a 3.0.14a installation (using an OpenLDAP backend) to 3.0.23c and noticed that when using the Windows User Manager group members are no longer listed when viewing a group--when 'ldapsam:trusted = yes' is set. I've since compiled and tested various versions using default options and the last time I see this member listing working was in 3.0.20b--3.0.21 and

Can't get ldap passwd sync = only to send password request to ldap server
Ok, this one is driving me nuts. I am using smbk5pwd to sync samba, ldap, and heimdal kerberos passwords. I have the overlay working if called from the ldappasswd command. However, if I set "ldap passwd sync = only", I get no joy from Samba. It does a series of searches, but doesn't send any kind of password update request to the server. If I use ldap passwd sync = yes, then

Samba and Cisco's WebVPN
Hi All, I'm posting this just in case someone can tell what's going on with samba that would prevent this from working. Cisco has the ability to see a smb share from their webvpn product with CIFS. We can browse windows shares but not samba shares. The following log outputs are from my ASA firewall. I know these are cisco logs but I'm hoping a lightbulb will come on for someone. The

idmap & migration to rfc2307
Replying to my own post - I can reset the mappings by "net cache flush", and this then persists for a while, but ultimately it ends up being overwritten somehow. I'm no longer sure if this is related to files owned by the old UID - because I've since tried to chown all of these, and this is still happening - but I guess I may have missed some, perhaps. Issues with RPC, SID resolving; cannot use RSAT
Hello, I'm running a setup with 3 DCs, all Samba 4.5.12, Debian Stretch (is patched for CVE-2018-1057, "samba_CVE-2018-1057_helper" been used). Probably unrelated to the upgrade and patch for CVE-2018-1057, there's a new problem coming up. RSAT fails to start/connect, complaining about RPC-Server unavailablility. On the DCs I've tried with smbclient and get the following:

seems removing idmap settings from smb.conf on both DCs having them has fixed it. smbclient and ADUC work as expected, now. idmap & migration to rfc2307
I *think* I may have encountered a bug, or a feature, in the idmap/winbind area. I have recently added rfc2307 attributes to my AD, and am in the process of switching over. This means that I still have (unintentionally) some files/directories/etc. around with old UIDs e.g. 3000007, rather than my rfc2307 specified UIDs. What I am seeing is that the SID2XID mapping is initially correct for a

Something weird about pdbedit.
Hi ! I'm running a samba domain controler under rhel 5. It's version 3.0.33-3.7.el5. I've also installed a ldap server to store users and groups and so on. When I try a pdbedit -v david, I get the following : Unix username: david NT username: david Account Flags: [U ] User SID: S-1-5-21-215069222-2822928016-2390355089-1016 Finding user

samba 3.6.4 smbd dies on solaris 10 sparc64
Hi list, Disclaimer: not a subscriber, not a samba expert, just trying to get samba running on a Solaris 10 system. We build samba 3.6.4 from source for various platforms. We link against our own builds of cyrus-sasl 2.1.23, openldap 2.4.23, and openssl 1.0.0h. On Solaris we also compile against krb5-1.10.1. Builds are done with GNU tools whenever possible (gcc/ld/make). The build host, as well

NT4 PDC -> Samba/LDAP PDC failing to work
Hi all: I am trying to migrate my NT4 domain to a samba server which uses an LDAP server on the backend for authentication This machine that I want to be the new PDC is running RHEL5 with samba 3.0.23c and an openldap 2.3.27 running on the same machine. Trouble resolving some group membership after upgrade from 4.8 to 4.10
Hello, I had been running Samba 4.8 for a few years without any problems, and then upgraded to 4.10. Since then I?ve been having problems with some accounts connecting, while some connect fine still. I haven?t been able to figure out why. My server is a relatively simple standalone server, using the LDAP password backend. A failing user authenticates OK and ends up like this in the logs:

3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only programs I supplied where db and libiconv. I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security, and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg. When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11: (dbx) where

Printing problem
Hi, I ran into a strange printing-problem: We're using OpenBSD 4.2 and Samba Version 3.0.28 and include our printers directly from /etc/printcap; whenever I enter a printername that contains numbers, smbd gives me the errors below. Any idea why samba messes up with digits in printernames? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /var/log/log.smbd

BDC constantly rebinds to master ldap server causing browsing delay
Hello, I seem to be having an issue where one of my BDC servers constantly needs to rebind to the "master" ldap server (ldap1.ae-solutions.com). Whenever this happens I see several entries in the log like this: "smbldap_search_ext: waiting 928 milliseconds for LDAP replication." It appears to cause delay when browsing samba shares whenever this happens. The master
