RNDC errors using SAMBA_INTERNAL_DNS
Hi, I installed the dependencies direct from the Debian/Ubuntu pre-reqs on the samba wiki here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Operating_system_requirements/Dependencies_-_Libraries_and_programs#Debian_.2F_Ubuntu Then just a straight forward configure with no options as per this page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Build_Samba_from_source Everything seems to work it (joining domains,

ipconfig /registerdns & PTR Records
Hello $LIST, i setup a new clean domain to examine the feature of updating/creating PTR records. When i call ipconfig /registerdns on the client i get this entry in the windows eventlog (sorry german) Fehler beim Registrieren der Hostressourceneinträge (A oder AAAA) für den Netzwerkadapter mit den folgenden Einstellungen: Adaptername: {2A467E48-624B-4CCF-9B7D-9BA5629D8117}

Unable to rejoin domain, LDAP error 50
Hi, This is strange what you are writing. Are you saying, that if Administrator is in Domain Users group = ALL my users have admins rights? Hard to believe. Moreover, I'm unable to delete Administrator from Domain Users group, as this is my basic group (I received such an info). I believe the keytab is needed to sth, cause without it I keep receiving: [2018/04/03 17:32:39.331938, 1]

Unable to rejoin domain, LDAP error 50
There was lack of membership in Administrators domain/Builtin group. I had only: Domain Users Group Policy Creator Owners Enterprise Admins Schema Admins Domain Admins I've added and I'll try. Thank you. Any hint with the recreation of keytab file? Regards, Kris -----Original Message----- From: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] On Behalf Of Rowland Penny via samba Sent:

Why is S4 attempting to execute rndc when using *INTERNAL* DNS?
My AD domain (SerNET S4 4.5.3) using S4's internal DNS, and always has. So why is it now constantly logging an error of - [2017/01/13 12:53:00.152754, 0] ../lib/util/util_runcmd.c:316(samba_runcmd_io_handler) /usr/sbin/rndc: Failed to exec child - No such file or directory - after attempting to add a 2008R2 DC. FW: samba_kcc issue after joining the domain as a DC
I'm sorry, after double-checking the Louis's link I've found that the domain zone should be domain-wide, while the _msdcs stuff should be forest wide. I'll change it and try again. Apologies. >>>>> # samba-tool dns zonelist 172.26.1.81 >>>>> Password for [administrator at domain.com]: >>>>> 2 zone(s) found >>>>>

Joined a second DC, some glitches...
I've setup my second DC, following the samba wiki, without major trouble. Only three notes: a) i've followed the suggestion to move idmap.ldb from the first DC to the second (Rowland! Clap me! I've not sayed 'primary' and 'secondary'! ;-). After that, as suggested by the wiki, i've done a 'samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset' but: root at vdcpp1:~# samba-tool

DLZ Backend DNS Hosed
Hello, I'm in trouble here with what appears to be a total meltdown of my DNS on my Domain Controllers. I only have two DCs right now and I cannot resolve anything on either of them. I am on Ubuntu 16.04 with a compiled version of Samba 4.10.4. I also have a compiled version of BIND 9.10.3-P4-Ubuntu <id:ebd72b3> # service bind9 status ? bind9.service - BIND Domain Name Server ?

Van Belle Repo - 4.10 for Bionic
you can upgrade from 4.7 to 4.9. but you must run samba-tool dbcheck that should work also. after the check run samba-tool dbcheck --reindex Main difference, a few depends and there versions. debian has tracker 1.0, ubuntu tracker 2.0 for example. RPC server is unavailable when using ADUC
Hello. We're running Samba 4.3.9 AD on two Ubuntu 16.04 LTS machines. I'm managing AD users and DNS from Windows 10 joined to the domain, by using ADUC. Last week I noticed the following error when starting ADUC as Administrator of the AD domain: ---- Naming information cannot be located because: The RPC server is unavailable. Samba 4.8 RODC not working
Hi, It's my first try to setup RODC using Samba 4.8. We have latest Samba 4.7 environnement with 2 DC and some file servers. Joining the DC to the domain is OK using samba-tool domain join command. The domain controller appears in the DC list (MMC) However, users cannot be authenticated. Samba is running but these ports are closed : netbios-ssn 139/tcp # NETBIOS session service

(no subject)
On the original AD DC I see this error: /usr/sbin/rndc: Failed to exec child - No such file or directory [2020/06/25 15:38:50.565496, 0] ../../source4/dsdb/dns/dns_update.c:91(dnsupdate_rndc_done) ../../source4/dsdb/dns/dns_update.c:90: Failed rndc update - NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL But there is no rndc program anywhere on this system. And internal DNS is all that was ever enabled.
