server signing broken for non-kerberos auth
I'm working with the Solaris bundled version of samba 3.5.5 and having a problem with server signing. samba is configured into an active directory domain with security = ads. With signing enabled, connections from clients in the domain work fine. However, connections from clients not in the domain fail: ----- >net use /user:WIN\henson \\ike.unx.csupomona.edu\henson Enter the password for

msdfs root -- client error "refers to a location that is unavailable"
I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.28 to work as an MS Dfs root providing a share that links home directories to the actual servers they reside on. Unfortunately, when I access the share from a Windows XP client, and try to open one of the directories, the client gives an error that it "refers to a location that is unavailable". I've done a lot of searching, and found a number of

ZFS shadow copy patches
I was wondering if there was any news on the patches proposed by Ed Plese last year regarding updates for shadow copies to be better compatible with Solaris ZFS: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2007-February/051510.html Reviewing the release notes for the upcoming 3.2 release: http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/pre/WHATSNEW-3-2-0pre2.txt I don't see any mention of changes to

disable '_' to '/' replacement in %S for default service configuration
We've been using a fairly old version of samba for quite some time to serve user home directories and group project directories with a configuration approximately like: ----- [global] default service = groups [homes] path = /export/user/%u [groups] path = /export/group/%S ----- This has worked out very well, the samba configuration is minimal, and does not need to

ZFS ACL''s broken over NFS
As is altogether far too common an occurance, we were having a problem where a file was not inheriting the correct ACL, but rather a horribly munged one resulting in incorrect permissions and security problems. It appeared something was chmod''ing the file after creation, but despite best efforts we simply could not find the culprit. After much investigation, we determined the ACL was

ZFS ACLs/Samba integration
I''m currently prototyping a Solaris file server that will dish out user home directories and group project directories via NFSv4 and Samba. I have samba configured and integrated into our local active directory, with ACL mapping working. I''m a little confused as to the behavior of the ZFS ACL though. on a brand-new filesystem, touching a file results in: -rw-r--r-- 1 root

Crash in 4.12.10 in
I just got an INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in smbd (4.12.10) in something that sids_to_unixids() in source3/winbindd/idmap_hash/idmap_has.c calls and 3 levels down - unfortunately the stack trace doesn?t say what it is - probably optimised into inline code or something. Recently upgraded from Samba 4.12.5 to 4.12.10 (self-compiled). FreeBSD 12.2 It happened right after 10 hours since that smbd

wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g not working after samba update from 4.2.3 to 4.2.10
I am also having this issue, however in my case it is worse - samba shares do not work and "getent passwd <domain user>" also does not work. I tried adding the following to the "[global]" section of my smb.conf as suggested elsewhere, but no improvement: client ldap sasl wrapping = plain My smb.conf is very similar to yours, however I also have the following options set:

Server packet loss and becomes unresponsive
? Does "ifconfig" or "dmesg" show any errors??? If the answer to those is no, I'd start running sar to see if there is abnormal behavior which could indicate a hardware problem.?? Of course, another possibility is a DDOS.? Do you have any kind security monitoring or protection in place? -geoff ----------------------------------------- Geoff Galitz Blankenheim,

enterprise scale redundant Solaris 10/ZFS server providing NFSv4/CIFS
We are looking for a replacement enterprise file system to handle storage needs for our campus. For the past 10 years, we have been happily using DFS (the distributed file system component of DCE), but unfortunately IBM killed off that product and we have been running without support for over a year now. We have looked at a variety of possible options, none of which have proven fruitful. We are

Please help: domU becomes unresponsive
Hi all, sorry to intrude on xen-devel, but I think I need direction from the expertise here. I''ve admin''d Xen servers of various flavors for a couple years, but never seen this before. After a period ranging from several hours to several days, my primary database and development DomU completely locks up. Net disconnects, but CPU(sec) continues to tick in xentop. No errors, and

Hai, Test again but now install 4.4.2 >> All versions below 4.4.2 are affected i.m.o. << My guess, bad patch somewhere, I do think security-2016-04-12-prerequisite-v4-4-regression-fixes.metze01.txt is the problem, since this is the only patch i remove from the debian patches. (compaired to the samba 4.4.2 from source and the 4.4.1 from debian) (!! Above works for me, i dont
