Member server only shares locally
Hello
In 2 different subnets I have setup 2 identical samba servers (RH 6.5) as
fileservers for windows clients. Each is a member of it's own AD Domain
(Windows 2003 Servers).
The problem: one of them only is accessible and sharing locally.
On the windows-client, trying to mount a share gives this error:
C:\Users\testuser>net use y: \\samba_server\topfolder /user:testuser

No takers thus far. These are the Samba 4.2 changes to which I
previously referred (https://www.samba.org/samba/history/samba-4.2.0.html) :
For the client side we have the following new options:
"require strong key" (yes by default), "reject md5 servers" (no by
default).
E.g. for Samba 3.0.37 you need "require strong key = no" and
for NT4 DCs

You may have included this in another email however I will ask anyway, did
you set DNS to your server in the Linux and Windows clients? Can you check
if a Windows Server can join? Can you use DNS management to check the DNS
on you samba server?

I have an NT domain on Debian Stretch. It's been upgraded numerous
times, but has been running for almost a decade. Since upgrading from
4.1.17 to 4.3.3 (huge Debian jump), then to 4.3.6, clients cannot
connect to shares. Prior to upgrading, I found the changes mentioned
for 4.2 regarding NT domains and applied them. Even so, I still cannot
connect to network shares nor print to

receive_smb_raw_talloc failed for client - cannot get to shares
hi guys
I have classic nt-style samba and windows 10 clients (one even updated
to 1803 and works okey) but(as there always have to be a but).. I've
just got new installation off a 1709 build but this time it's "Education
N" (where Pro 1709 does not have this problem) and the problem is:
I cannot get to shares, on that "Education N" I get no login/credentials

Why am i getting "Transport endpoint is not connected"
Hi,
I got no replies to my last post "win 7 client can't map drive: getpeername
failed"
Anyway I've dug a little deeper on the server side by setting log level 10
and found
the error:
"Transport endpoint is not connected"
Basically I compared the logs (several thousand lines!) from two windows 7
clients,
one of which always works (the good client) and one which

understanding an error message
I have a toshiba copy machine that is also used as a scanner.
The scanner can be set to store files to a SMB UNC. So I create a
username/password for the scanner to login with, then configured a unc path
for to store to. All was working well for a while.
Then the scanner stopped storing to the samba share. Initial analysis
seemed to indicate that the username/password was failing.
So I reset it

S3 and CTDB errors in logs
I am seeing these errors every night in the logs. Should I be worried
about any of them? The only thing I have noticed is slow log ons.

Public Share on Samba with ADS security
Hello, list;
This is my second try asking for help. One person responded and provided help, but I still can't seem to work this out. I've searched, but have failed. I'm not new to Samba, but I can and do make mistakes...so here I am.
I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 with Samba 3.6.18. I have Kerberos properly configured and have successfully joined the domain, and can list

Problem after upgrading to Debian 10
Excuse me if I bother you, but I badly need help.
Let me describe the situation. In my network there is a group of
Windows boxes in a Windows domain (THE_DOMAIN), three computers with
Debian 9.x not linked to the domain (in a workgroup named TECHNOLOGY,
and the parameter security=user) one of which I use, and other three
computers with Debian 7.x in another workgroup (and security=share, so

User is invalid on this system
Hello all.
We are running Samba 3.6.6 on a Debian 6.0.6 server. We made the upgrade from 3.6.5 to 3.6.5 about a week ago and ever since we have lost the ability to map Samba shares from our Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 clients:
Here's an example from my workstation (logging verbosity set at 10):

Samba 3.6 File server with W2k3 DC
Hi,
I've been fighting against a file server with samba 3.6.9-151.el6
authenticating from a windows 2003 server. I've read a thousand posts
and howtos with all kind of samba versions without success.
It looks like windbind is not processing things right. I've set the unix
permissions on the folder to CANAL4\graficos right and the parent folder
is world readable so this should not be

CTDB vs HA(clusterlabs)
hi everyone
to experts, all experienced sambians - when one uses HA
cluster one deems CTDB needless, redundant?
Or you somehow team those two together?
Or maybe ctdb is so superior that it is ruling this domain
and if HA exists it leaves Samaba to ctdb?
many thanks,
L.

server signing = mandatory aix 6.1 (abridged debug)
Using samba 3.5.12 on aix 6.1 when I set "server signing = mandatory"
nothing can connect to my server. Included the smb.conf followed by errors
showing up in the level 10 debug output.
Thanks,
