Debian patched 3.6.6 winbindd fails.
Hi there, I manage a Samba installation which has been operating very well on Debian Wheezy for a number of years. Up until last week I was running 3.6.25, which (as always until now) I compiled myself. Because of the large number of changes in the recent security patches, I opted to try the Debian 'samba' and 'winbind' packages. I was a little horrified to find that Debian is

It is being listened by "samba: task[rpc] pre-forked worker(0)". It does not exist on a member server, where I observe these log messages. Here,

Reformat x axis
Hi I am trying to do a simple XY plot with a dataset that has dates stored as integers . I would like to have the X values displayed as dates. I realize I could do this by converting the x values to dates first, However, does R have the ability like SAS FORMAT, for example, of reformatting the values of variables as part of the plot routine? Thanks D Haywood

Strange ID-Mapping behavior
Hi list, on one of our servers I found a strange id-mapping behavior. The server acts as an AD-DC and fileserver. We user the sernet-samba packages in version 4.2.9 on openSUSE leap 42.1. We use the rfc3207 extension for Posix attributes. Every group has a full set of posix-attributes. Our gidNumbers are calculated by RID plus 20000. If i ask for id-mappings, "wbinfo" shows for

Strange ID-Mapping behavior
Hey, id mapping is accessible from net command: net cache list you can also clean that cache: net cache flush After flushing the cache your users and groups having uidNumber and/or gidNumber should work as expected (ie using their AD declared uid/gid). rpc_pipe_open_ncalrpc: connect(/run/samba/ncalrpc/EPMAPPER) failed: No such file or directory
This question has already been asked in the past, but there was no answer. The above message is logged quite often in /var/log/samba/log.samba-dcerpcd. This is a stand-alone anonymous read-only server. Is it something to worry about? It smells like samba isn't working properly. If yes, how can I fix it? If no, how can I stop samba from logging un-interesting messages? What dcerpcd is

RPC server not available when windows client attempts to join samba AD
I am installing a new Samba 4.2 Active Directory server on CentOS 7. I followed the Wiki instructions on how to create the server. I am using sernet-samba 4.2 binaries. Everything seems to be OK on the Linux side but I cannot get any windows client to successfully join the domain. Each attempt returns the following error message "RPC Server in not available". Below are the config file

winbindd GETGRENT results in trusted domains environment
Good day. 1. We have configured two domain controllers on Windows 2003 R2. We named them TEST.LOCAL and CHILD.TEST.LOCAL respectively and made a trust relationships between them. 2. We have installed Samba 3.5.3 on Ubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.31-14 and configured it for using winbindd. We have encountered a problem with results that winbind returns upon a command GETGRENT. We

Problem with SPNEGO on full trust 2016 DC <> Samba 4.10.7 AD
I've read the documentation that domain trusts should be fully supported with both Kerberos and NTLM authentication. I've created a new 2016 domain on a Windows box and created a Samba domain on a Linux box with a BIND9_DLZ backend. Both servers can resolve both DNS domains forwards and backwards and I am able to connect a Windows 10 client to the Samba domain without any issues. The

How to test impact of candidate changes to package?
I use a package to contain simple functions that can be handled by unit tests for correctness and more complex functions that combine the simple functions with business logic. Where there are proposals to change either the simple functions or the business logic, a sample needs to be run before the change and then after it to understand the impact of the change. I do this currently by 1. Using
