Windows DC to Samba DC Sysvol replication
Why can't one use robocopy to do unidirectional replication from a Windows Domain Controller to a Samba Domain Controller? https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Robocopy_based_SysVol_replication_workaround

wiki.samba.org Robocopy
Hello, i few seconds ago i was on this site : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Robocopy_based_SysVol_replication_workaround The Link under the section "Download" "Mircosoft Windows 2003 Resource Kit Tools" says, that the Download is no longer available. It makes sense , because Windows Server 2003 is not supported anymore :) Maybe Somebody of the Samba Team can update the

Questions about adding a DC
Hi, In reading https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory#Joining_the_Active_Directory_as_a_Domain_Controller it says "If the other DCs are Samba DCs and were provisioned with --use-rfc2307, you Should add --option='idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes' to the join command" So does this mean that rfc2307 should not be used if the other DCs are MS

Quickstart & Samples
Ok -- I''ve calmed down to a slow boil now after discovering that once again, one or more of the sample configurations are broken and 100''s of newbies have downloaded them. Rather than removing all links to the Quickstart Guide, I''ve placed the following disclaimer on the top of the guide: NOTICE: This QuickStart Guide is currently unmaintained and I make no claims

quickstart
I have the Asterisk book, it's enormous, the 4th edition as per http://www.asteriskdocs.org/. I'd like to do something like: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+quickstart just to have two hardphones act as extensions and call each other. Is that a reasonable first task? I'm looking for the simplest litmus test for functionality possible. thanks, Thufir

Quickstart Guide
I am in Australia and I have a friend in the USA. We both have asterisks installed and dial tone. What is the easiest way to set us both up so we each have an extension number to call each other on? Also, There is a lot of information in the Asterisk's manual. Has anyone produced a quick start guide? I could certainly do with one. Thanks --Geoff (the novice). -------------- next part

Subversion, testing a quickstart guide, version control for a Rails project
I just burned 3 hours figuring out Subversion, so I made up a little quickstart guide. Try the guide and see if you can get version control going in ... say ... 30 minutes? I assume your situation is: You are setting up version control on a new subdirectory on your computer. You will copy your entire rails project directory tree into the new subdirectory after you get subversion running.

Hi, I just got my ip500 back after months of waiting. Is there an easy way to get it hooked up to asterisk without [t]ftp servers and all that or is there a quickstart page somewhere? tia r

Migrate File Server MS for Samba
Dear,We are in MS migration phase to Samba 4.Besides replacing the AD MS by Samba 4, we must also migrate the file server MS to Samba 4. I have some doubts and I ask the opinion of you:   1 - Is there any way to migrate MS folder permissions for Samba 4?  2 - We will need a secondary domain control. Based on best practices in this Samba 4 is that the file server, we can use it as a secondary DC?

Using PuppetDB REPL
I want to experiment a bit with PuppetDB and in the documentation there''s mention of the built in remote repl, but I can''t seem to get it working. After enabling it on "/etc/puppetdb/conf.d/repl.ini": [repl] enabled = true type = nrepl port = 8082 When I restart it the log "/var/log/puppetdb/puppetdb.log" shows that it''s started: WARN [main]

about REPL and loops in general ...
I need to implement some external callbacks to R and I'm not happy with the current REPL, since it prevents any general solution. Are there plans to improve the current REPL anytime soon? The current approach has some deficiencies you are surely aware of (only one input (=external event loop), the loop is blocked while waiting for input in R_ReadConsole, ...). But the major problem is

samba-check-db-repl failure email
This should not be a problem. but this was part/left over?of the problem you faced friday. On DC1, the PTR was "somehow" deleted (whole zone was gone), at least looks like it. "CN=DELETED OBJECTS " is the trashcan in AD. Just verify if for both the DC's the A and PTR records are working, but that looked ok. The due above, somehow on DC2, the server is placed in?

samba-check-db-repl failure email
If I run Louis' "samba-check-db-repl.sh" script and it does not send an email then this is a "no news is good news" situation, I am assuming. DC1 sends no email. DC2 sends this: ERROR: Compare failed: -1 * Comparing [DOMAIN] context... * Objects to be compared: 287 * Result for [DOMAIN]: SUCCESS * Comparing [CONFIGURATION] context... * Objects to be compared: 1619 *

An awful response: change tombstoneLifetime : ) When deleting objects they go to recycle bin then to deleted objects then are deleted. This if you have some recycle bin working which is not the case by default I reckon. tombstoneLifetime is the number of days AD has to keep deleted objects before the real deletion. If you use the recycle bin this very same tombstoneLifetime is also used to
