Yes, something like. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Bidirectional_Rsync/Unison_based_SysVol_replication_workaround https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Active_Directory_Sites and if needed you can also set a "prefferred" server per OU or site in GPO. Keeping idmap in sync cross DC
Hi Guys, I have run into a very interesting problem using GPO's on our DC's. As you may (or may not) know, we have migrated to a pure Samba4 (Git stable branch checkout) AD network. I can't be happier. *Kudos to the Samba team* We are running to DC's, DC1 and DC2, both full fledged DC's, both running CentOS 6.9, fully up to date. For the sysvol partition I decided to run a

GPO, multiple DCs, sites and sysvol
This is all about DC location My workstations are correctly assigned to sites and correctly use their site DC to authenticate But this does not apply to Sysvol connection establishement (I saw a workstation on site A, authenticated on DC of site A (alive), fetching GPO from site B, no matter the configuration). To me it seems to be related to the lack of DFS handling Regards Le 08/04/2016

Question on sysvol replication, GPOs and sysvolreset
Hello, I am wondering whether I have all pieces together for a scenatio with two DCs and GPOs being used. Obviously the GPOs need to be replicated between DCs, I use "osync" as per the samba wiki (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Bidirectional_Rsync/osync_based_SysVol_replication_workaround). In that documentation the sysvolreset command is issued every time on the second DC after

Question on sysvol replication, GPOs and sysvolreset
Try: http://samba.bigbird.es/doku.php?id=samba:sync-sysvol I would recommend one way sync always from PDC FSMO owner, as this is the machine the GPOs get created in by default. And of course : http://samba.bigbird.es/doku.php?id=samba:sync-idmap.ldb Regards. Moving roaming profiles between domains, risky?
OK, now i've to start to move the big part of my users from my old NT-like domains to my new AD domain. I've setup roaming profile in the new domain following the wiki (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles, 'using windows ACL') and for new profiles works like a charm. But i've tried to move/copy old profile to the new domain, and seems work, with

Active directory sites & subnets
Hello, Reading about, specifically in the wiki <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Active_Directory_Sites> link, says the following about subnets. "Create a subnet entry for all subnets in your network and assign them to a site:" The subnet on which our DCs are configured is a public IP block, but the client machines are in a subnet with a private address block. Do I need to

SysVol replication (DFS-R)
Hi, For me this is the most important feature that we miss in Samba4 AD [1] . First, IMHO , I don't see mounting a rsync server as the most easy way but in that page have a crucial clue [2] which is just write GPO(s) in the master. But we need not forget [3] "To use a Sysvol Replication workaround, all domain controllers (DC) must use the same ID mappings for built-in users and

sites and subnets
We had a samba 4.1.9 AD DC running since July. We have 3 campuses and brought up a secondary AD at another campus. This setup seemed to be running as expected. We could see our primary AD DC authenticating requests fine. We could see the secondary AD authenticating requests as well at our second campus. Then we started experiencing bandwidth issues between our campuses. Our metro-etherlink

Extending a Samba4 domain to multi-site
Hi folks, I have been using Samba4 as an Active Directory domain controller with many clients since about 2013, and it is the best. I have recently been asked to extend the AD domain in a clients office, to 6 other physical sites. Rather than reinvent the wheel, what is the best way to accomplish this given the current support in Samba4? Alex Ferrara Director Receptive IT Solutions
