loss of group permissions on created Directories when using vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr
Hi All, I'm hoping you can help, I've recently built a Samba server on Ubuntu 16.04lts and bound it to our AD for security. This server was created to support a small number of Mac users who also authenticate via AD but still allow general Windows client access as well. The problem I have is the video editing software they require makes use of the 'vfs objects = catia fruit

fruit:copyfile not working as expected
Hello Mike, I know from my customers that moving files under macOS Ventura on a SMB share is a mess and completely broken by Apple (e. g. moved files cannot be opened until you reconnect). Unfortunately I do not have a ZFS-backed machine to test against available right now to confirm the behaviour. Is your order of "vfs objects? correct? How the vfs object “fruit” work on samba
Hi all, I'm a user of samba. Because we still use samba version 4.1.13 but now we want to use final cut pro through cifs. We have found that need to set the conf "catia fruit streams_xattr" and is there any idea to patch code like fruit modules on samba version 4.1.13 ? I also want to know why the error "Unsupported volume type" will come out when import fcpx on mac. Thank

streams_xattr & streams_depot
A couple of questions about the above: 1. In their respective man pages, both refer to "NTFS alternate data streams?, however they are not limited to just NTFS ADS are they? Other file systems may also use ADS (such as Mac OS?s various fs) 2. What is the essential differences and similarities between the two? From the man pages it appears that: - xattr has default prefix (which can be

Extended attributes not working on mac
I worked with Netatalk for years and want to switch to Samba now. Currently i use Ubuntu 20.04. and Debian 9 before, i had no issues with netatalk at all. As soon as i try to add a color tag (e.g. yellow) with Mac OS 10.15.5, the tag appears shortly but hides one second later. The file system is ZFS with no special options configured. I tried the Ubuntu package but also the builds from source

vfs_fruit: xattr imcompatible with netatalk
Hi. I'm testing samba 4.2.0 vfs_fruit on Fedora Server 22-alpha. I confirmed that ResourceFork and FinderInfo are compatible with Netatalk 3.1.7. However, EAs are incompatible. The character ":" in EA name is wrong. The EAs are not seen from clients. smb.conf: [test2] path = /export/test2 writable = yes vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr fruit:locking =

Extended attributes not working on mac
I?m not sure if this is related, but there was a regression a while back in handling resource forks in folder icons. It was supposed to be fixed in 4.10.13 but I don?t think it quite works yet and I haven?t had the time to test it further yet. -Perttu > On 30 May 2020, at 21.00, Martin Steiner / 3MF GmbH via samba <samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > > I changed the configuration

Hi, when saving a file to this share the permissions (0777) are being ignored under OS X 10.11.5. All files will get these permissions: 0755. I don't know why? move from netatalk to samba + vfsfruit
since "ea = samba" was only added to very recent netatalk versions and so don't apply to files with a history of many years what is the way to go get rid of netatalk these days? is there still no tool to read/write the existing netatalk appladouble extended attributes which are *not* compatible with samba and write them back in the new format? afp.conf: appledouble = ea ea = samba

vs_fruit - can't write to share
Hi, i'm running Samba 4.2.1 compiled from source on an Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS Server. ACL/XATTR is active and working. I tried to activate the vfs_fruite module and added the sample code: vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr fruit:resource = file fruit:metadata = netatalk fruit:locking = netatalk fruit:encoding = native to the share. In addition i tried the following share definition: vfs
