credentials file doesn't work
I am using a Gentoo Linux machine and trying to mount a remote file
system via samba. The following DOES WORK:
mount -t smbfs -o username="SMB-SRV\stonyy",password=abc123
//smbsrv/proj /mnt/proj
However, I don't really want my username and password visible to the
world (yes, I changed the password and everything but the backslash in
the username for this posting). So I tried

Samba, Kerberos, Autofs: Shares get disconnected
Hi,
I am still trying to figure out the best settings for Samba and Kerberos
with autofs.
My setup so far works good, users can log in on their computers using AD
credentials, and they can access network shares with AD credentials as
well. This works perfect.
Also I notice that some Kerberos ticket is created upon user login, which
allows the users to access a Samba share without entering the

Samba4 automount schema: convert from flat files to LDAP
Hi
I think I've managed to get the automount classes into the the schema:
ldbsearch
--url=/usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb.d/"CN=SCHEMA,CN=CONFIGURATION,DC=HH3,DC=SITE.ldb" | grep "dn: CN=automount"
dn: CN=automountKey,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=hh3,DC=site

Samba, Kerberos, Autofs: Shares get disconnected
Hallo again,
I would like to ask if there exists any possibility to have a Samba mount
point with multiuser and with a credentials file or something similar.
After a couple weeks testing I just find that my shares get disconnected
after one week, which is not acceptable: I have stored some large project
files on the Samba share which is opened in some calculation software, and
simulations take up

autofs + cifs + kerberos
I'm having an issue with autofs mounting cifs using kerberos, on machines
joined to an S4 domain controller. Both hosts and S4 server are CentOS 6,
and the DC is running samba-4.1.11 from sernet.
Autofs is getting it's maps from LDAP from the DC. This part works
fine, automount -m shows:
Mount point: /share
source(s):
instance type(s): sss
map: auto.share

File Server on Samba 4
I want it when a user if to authenticate to the system a network mapping to
be automatically mounted by the /etc/fstab
Sample:
//192.168.200.3/Commercial /media/Commercial cifs
auto,users,username=<domain-user>,passwor=<password>
How do I get the domain username of the user logged and the password to set
up the mapping?
If isn't possible, what is the best way ?

Pam_mount not working with "sec=krb5"
Mathias, thanks again! This sounds like a very reasonable approach. I
know that with remote ssh and public key authentication you can set the
limit to a single possible command. is this also possible with AD users?
Unfortunately, I don't have 'multiuser' support in my current cifs-utils
version 4.8. So I would end up with your designated user being the owner
of all the files and

Using GPO to mount shares on Linux
Hello,
I'm using a Samba 4 as domain server and I've a lot of Windows computers
that mounts shared drives on another server through GPO applied by user
groups.
Is there any way to do something similar on a Linux box, or I've to use a
local script?
Thanks!

pam_winbind and offline logon
Hi all!
As a long slackware user I'm a total noob in pam and I'm banging my head against a wall trying to set it up correctly to play nice with slackware's default pam configuration.
One of the things I'm trying to accomplish is to be able to logon while the ad domain is available and have pam_mount automount the samba shares and to be able to do an offline logon and skip the

'credentials' file doesn't work - also observed by others
Background: Linux, Debian (Sarge). I want to auto-mount an smbfs at
boot. smbmount version is 3.0.7-Debian.
With the following in my fstab, I can do the mount as root, but have to
provide a password (hence either I can't boot unattended, or can't mount
it during boot):
//<server>/<share> /mnt/point smbfs

permission denied with windows acls
I am getting a permission denied when trying to ls as a domain user a
samba mount with windows ACLs (sigh I thought I had this figured out).?
I tried to include self descriptive server names and include them in the
info below (fs1: file server, nc: addc, u2gui: ubuntu desktop)
CARLSON\peter at u2gui:~$ ls -l /mnt
ls: cannot access '/mnt/test': Permission denied
