nmbd keeping old data
We are having a problem that I suspect is due to nmbd giving out obsolete information. Unfortunately the problem can not be reproduced consistently. We have a build system that runs on our Solaris machines where the final files are copied into a distribution directory after being built. Note that copying a new file on top of an old one does not change the file ID. PC users sometimes will see the

Making icecast stream available outside my network?
Hi, i'm a newb to using icecast. what i'm using is, foobar2000, with the altacast encoder. I went in to the config file, and changed the adminname/password. i've left everything else at there defaults. I open up altacast, and add a new encoder, giveing it the user name, and password. it works fine. But when giveing the link to people to listen, they say they can't open it.

Samba 3.0.2 mapped by Actve Directory
I have spent a while trying to join a samba machine to our university's active directory structure so that allowed users can map to it by simply running \\webserver I was able to join the machine just fine via: net ads join VPSA/UH/UH-_ResComp_Servers/ -U adminname And now I can run wbinfo -u to get a listing of all users on our network. I have the right permissions, because from that

Trying to get ADS authentication working.
I have been trying in vain to get ADS domain authentication working. I can't figure out what is wrong and have read the docs and looked through the mailing lists. I'm not sure why better documentation hasn't been written on the web site for the ADS feature since it's pretty spectacular to be able join a Samba server natively to an AD domain. I have successfully joined the samba

Error when creating user with Samba 3.0 & LDAP
Hy, I just install OpenLDAP 2.0 and Samba 3.0. (both from RPM). I used tools from idealx (found in src from Samba 3.0) to populate the ldap tree. My ldap is empty when i start, i just added index and samba.schema in slapd.conf. I used net rpc getsid to generate my domain SID and put in the smbldap_conf.pm with others options (dc, ou, dn etc.) I didn't get any error with this tool, it create

Creating domain users in AD from Linux
Here are my findings. Keywords for Google and for those who, like me, did not find useful references: create user domain ldap active directory ad linux rpcclient net ads rpc account enable enabled login bind. Background: we're migrating users from AD to OpenLDAP; for a period the two have to coexist, because AD authenticates logins, OpenLDAP authenticates mail. My aim is to provide a single

sambaSamAccount versus SambaSAMAccount
Hi All, The smbldap-tools in latest Samba tarball 3.0.1 use SambaSAMAccount rather than SambaSamAccount as per the samba.schema file. Attached are four patches to fix this. Failed to join domainL: failed to connect to AD: NT_STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED
Hello, I'm having a problem getting samba to work properly. In a nutshell, we had Samba running (version 3.0.x, the version that comes with RHEL4u4), but then our security guys made us make several changes to our Win2k3 domain controller, and now I cannot get this to work. First, I'm simply trying to join a Linux file server to a Windows domain for file sharing purposes, I have no

Setting up Linux and ADS
Hi, I'm sure you've heard this before as I've been searching the net for about a week now with no luck. I am setting up Samba 3.0.2a on a Linux server (I've tried RedHat 9 and Crux distributions). As per the many howto's and docs out there, I installed KRB5 (MIT version) and OpenLDAP required library files. No problems. I've run kinit against the AD here at the office,

Making icecast stream available outside my network?
Hi! Are you even sure that your icecast server is exposed on the internet? Is your icecast server running on a public or private ip address? If it's running on a private ip address (192.168.0.0/16, 10.0.0.0/8 or 172.16.0.0/12), then you have to do some port forwarding, so your listeners can reach it. - Marius Den 30.11.2015 22:59, skrev Matt Turner: > Hi, i'm a newb to using icecast.

Making icecast stream available outside my network?
Maybe try the following tool to actually check if the port is open: http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ ? And if you're comfortable with it, share the ip address either on the list or to me privately, so I can check for you. Have you checked the firewall running on the icecast server itself? If you're running Windows, make sure you've exempted the icecast program from the

variables inside a template for my hp ilo device
I am writing a hp ilo module to automatically assign a static ip that is derived from the IP of the system which is fed in via facter. I basically just need to change the network the ilo is connected to. The ruby code works great inside the irb console. However, puppet doesn''t seem to be able to use the variable I have derived from the ipaddress. This is my first template so I am not

Samba4 and 0.0.0.0:137 and 0.0.0.0:138 opened, why ? How do close it ?
Thanks for this answer. As I understood, for example if parameter bind interfaces only = yes is and interfaces = lan0 (192.168.0.254) is and if broadcast packet goes from 95.95.95.14 such packet will be dropped (in other words) ? Am I right ? And other thing. Why is 192.168.0.255 (network broadcast) opened for ? May be exact such address (network broadcast) is inbtended for receiving broadcasts
