use linux user account information on samba
Hi, Thank you for the quick reply. I have gone through the samba wiki in particular the section on nslcd with kerberos, all the setup of dc and member server to no avail. Nothing is obviously wrong for example "getent passwd" gives me all the linux users nd also the Samba users with "DOMAIN\username" names. Now if I do: smbclient //server/netlogon -U"linux_user" -c

Linux SSO with samba4?
Hi, I think it is great that samba4 has a single sign on solution for Windows platforms and it seems to work well too, but I am wondering is it possible to do the same for a Linux environment? I have been studying how to implement single sign on using the Ubuntu way through this document: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SingleSignOn and I am wondering if I can do the same with samba4 where the

smbclient -c options
I'm trying to get a recursive file listing with smbclient: smbclient //host/share -Uusername%password -c "ls -alFR" But I get an error: NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_FILE listing \-alFR Evidently, smbclient thinks I'm asking for a file mask. Is there a way to get a recursive file listing on a samba share so I can pipe it to wc -l for a file count? Ideally, I'd like to: (This won't

Share authentication problem
Hi @ll ! I am trying to set up a samba fileserver in SuSe 42.3 as domain member in a debian based Samba4 AD. The join seems to be ok, as I can get /wbinfo -u/ and /-g/, and /getent group/ and /passwd/. I can also list all browsable shares with /smbclient -L \\SambaFS -Uusername/, but when i add -k, I get following errors : /SPNEGO(gse_krb5) creating NEG_TOKEN_INIT for cifs/Samba1 failed

Samba 4 kerberos and kinit
Hi After starting Samba 4, before anyone can do anything, Administrator has to do a kinit to get a new ticket. This creates a cache /tmp/krb5cc_0 with an expiry time. I've created a host principal and put it into the keytab: samba-tool spn add host someuser samba-tool domain exportkeytab /etc/krb5.keytab --principal=host/HH3.SITE How can I keep Samba 4 up without having to get a new

What is wrong with my nslcd configuration?
I can't get my domain users presented to my local machine with getent passwd and the wiki https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Local_user_management_and_authentication/nslcd doesn't give me any steps troubleshoot this issue. My best guess it that I configured the user account incorrectly or I configured nslcd incorrectly. I can't exactly see what is the problem. I get these messages from

Samba AD PDC , LDAP and Single-Sign-On (was: re: Samba Internal DNS vs. BIND_DLZ)
I'm very confused. I have a Samba4 AD/DC which works great for Windows Authentication with our Windows 7 workstations. Now, I am trying to implement single-sign-on for our coming-soon Linux workstations. All web documentation I've so far found on this references OpenLDAP as the server and describes server-side commands such as kadmin and slapd-config to get things set up on the

Winbind help - with domain migration.
Hello guys I need some lights to migrate a Winbind/Samba share to a new AD. My scenario is: I have an old AD running on a Debian 9 and Samba 4.5.16 with many replication issues. Then I decided to create a new one from the scratch using Debian 10 and Samba 4.12.2 (and everything is working perfectly). I have migrated all the accounts/machines/etc from old to new domain without any problem. Both the

Change in smbclient between 3.0.24 and 3.0.25c breaks third party app
Hello list, A change in smbclient between 3.0.24 and 3.0.25c breaks [1] the gollem filemanager [2] and maybe others. In particular folder creation is broken unless the folder is a top level folder on the share. To create a subfolder "level2" in the folder /level1 of a share gollem executes this command: /usr/bin/smbclient "//1.2.3.4/sharename" "-p139"
