Samba after upgrade+migration, Win7 workstation trusts lost
Hello list - I am not sure my messages are getting out to the list, so I will attempt in this message to summarize the problems I am having that have been the subject of a few other posts. I recently upgraded from a command-line Slackware installation to Debian Jessie. As part of that exercise, Samba was upgraded from 3.5.x to 4.1.17. My upgrade method was probably not idea: I recursively

Upgrade/migrate, lost workstation trusts
Same physical computer, I performed a fresh and much newer o/s installation (slackware to debian). Samba was v3.5x, moved to the newest stable debian version. Backend is ldap. Testparm is fine. Moved old secrets.tdb, etc, to the appropriate new locations (old system disk is both completely backed up as well as still physically available to me, so I have all files from the old server). Ldap is

extended error
Hi all, This is happening on a Samba 3.0.1 PDC-controlled domain, so I'm not sure if the issue is Samba-related. If not, perhaps somebody can point me in the right direction. One of my users has a printer connected to his Win2k PC (name UPSTAIRS-SMALL). Printing to it from another (WinXP) workstation fails miserably. I tried to go back to first principles and go Start->Run

Dallas Ruby Brigade meets March 7th
The Dallas Ruby Brigade begins! Following in the proud tradition of Seattle.rb, NYC.rb and many others, Dallas has joined the crowd with its own local Ruby Brigade. We''ll be meeting Tuesday, March 7th in Addison. The plan is as follows: * Meet between 6:45 and 7:00 in the lobby downstairs. Because of the way security works, you''ll want to be timely in your arrival. At

Upgrade/migrate, lost workstation trusts
> So, net getsambasid and net getlocalsid both return the same value, which matches the SID in the backend LDAP database. So, maybe not a SID problem after all. Here's a log snippet from the server after a logon attempt from the workstation in question, with the failed workstation authentication. I'm not sure how to further debug "credentials check failed": [2016/02/28

Managing a Samba4 AD DC using a Win7 workstation
Hello, I just installed Samba4 using the following doc : http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO Everything works Ok. All tests are Ok. Now, I would like to manage it from a remote Windows7 Virtualbox workstation. For that, I followed the following doc : http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_management_from_windows I installed the RSAT component but when trying to connect the

WINS not caching second Samba Server
Background: I have 2 SMB Servers; one is configured to be the Preferred Master (fserver), the other (upstairs) is configured to just share some files. I want it to connect and update the WINS configuration on the Preferred Master. Configuration files for both servers are attached. Also worth mentioning that both the 'fserver' and 'upstairs' reside on the same network. Some

Intermittent Win7 trust issues
With samba 4 <-> win7 (* or win8-10) trust issues. Then you have a few things to check Start with checking if your time is in sync. Check the windows even log, for errors, look them up. If its a "bootcamp-ed" windows 7 install ( aka on a imac ), boot in apple, update bootcamp. Last, if you used an imaged windows 7, did you forgot to sysprep maybe? And correct, samba 3.x was

Cannot access Windows 10 printer - but can access all other parts of teh server (disks, folders etc)
Hi, I am very new to mailing lists so please excuse any mistakes I make regarding ettiquete etc. On a home network (Windows/Apple/Lunux) everybody has co-operated happily. I recently swapped my Linux system from Mint (Mate) to Debian (KDE) Buster. I can no longer access the Windows machine's printer form Debian. I have tried many things and done a great deal of googling but cannot seem to

Win7 pro trust relationship failed
Out of the blue, after working flawlessly for years, I suddenly cannot log on to my samba 3.5.6 domain with one particular Win7 Pro workstation. Nothing has apparently changed - Win7 updates applied recently, but I was able to successfully log on after that. Nothing has changed on the DC. Error message is that the trust relationship between the workstation and the primary domain failed. I'm

Intermittent Win7 trust issues
Hello list! I'm trying to debug a problem that surfaced after a Samba upgrade from v3.5.x to v4.1.17. The problem is that Win7 workstations appear to randomly experience domain trust issues logging in, although they can log in some times, they are unsuccessful at other times. I cannot so far predict what would result in or influence this behaviour. These are workstations on which

Shutting down / exporting zpool without flushing slog devices
Hey folks, This might be a daft idea, but is there any way to shut down solaris / zfs without flushing the slog device? The reason I ask is that we''re planning to use mirrored nvram slogs, and in the long term hope to use a pair of 80GB ioDrives. I''d like to have a large amount of that reserved for write cache (potentially 20-30GB), to facilitate rapid suspend to disk of

Multiple SLOG devices per pool
I have a pool with a single SLOG device rated at Y iops. If I add a second (non-mirrored) SLOG device also rated at Y iops will my zpool now theoretically be able to handle 2Y iops? Or close to that? Thanks, Ray

When writing to SLOG at full speed all disk IO is blocked
Hello all... I''m seeing this behaviour in an old build (89), and i just want to hear from you if there is some known bug about it. I''m aware of the "picket fencing" problem, and that ZFS is not choosing right if write to slog is better or not (thinking if we have a better throughput from disks). But i did not find anything about 100% slog activity (~115MB/s) blocks

Very odd issue with Win7 and trust relationships
Hello all, We have just concluded a very drawn out test of our domain that is having some trust relationship problems with Windows 7 desktops. Here is a breakdown of our setup: roark PDC running samba 3.4.7 (also has OpenLDAP) on VLAN 2 archives3 BDC running samba 3.4.7 (also has OpenLDAP) on VLAN2 arrowhead BDC "home server" running samba 3.4.3 on VLAN 9 archives4 BDC

what is zfs doing during a log resilver?
So, when you add a log device to a pool, it initiates a resilver. What is it actually doing, though? Isn''t the slog a copy of the in-memory intent log? Wouldn''t it just simply replicate the data that''s in the other log, checked against what''s in RAM? And presumably there isn''t that much data in the slog so there isn''t that much to check? Or

Win7 - Samba 3.5.4 trust relationship
Hello all, I guess that everyone knows the message "the trust relation between this workstation and the primary domain failed" when joining Win7 into samba domain. Unfortunately, the same problem appeared few hours/days after the machine was successfully joined in the domain(with reg keys from https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7) and user able to use it for awhile. Then at

CentOS 6 and android connectivity (Nook)
So, I got my wife a Nook for her b'day. I just plugged it into my system, CentOS 6.5, and what I see is /media/NOOK, and it shows 257k or so - yes, k, not m or g. It's *not* seeing any directories, etc, and the small thing I'm guessing is firmware, since even when I try mount -o remount -rw, it is still r/o. Googling, I see mentions of fsmtp, I think it was, and yum shows some mtp

slog/L2ARC on a hard drive and not SSD?
Hi, Out of pure curiosity, I was wondering, what would happen if one tries to use a regular 7200RPM (or 10K) drive as slog or L2ARC (or both)? I know these are designed with SSDs in mind, and I know it''s possible to use anything you want as cache. So would ZFS benefit from it? Would it be the same? Would it slow down? I guess it would slow things down, because it would be trying to
