Create Organizational units (OU) from Unix.
Hello,
Is there a way to create an OU (in the AD sence) from Unix with the
samba tools ?
I have made a script that create all my users and groups (for a
school). But I still need to create the OUs manually from windows with
RSAT.
Thanks.
Baptiste.

creating OU with samba4
Hello guys!
How I can create an organizationalUnit (OU)?
Now I created an user into an OU already existent, but I need to create a new OU.
I tried with:

objectClass: top
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: MyOU
root at s1 :~#ldbadd --url=/var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb file.ldif
but when I search MyOU on the Active

UID mapping for Organizational Unit
I am running samba 3.0.10-1.4E on Red Hat using winbind to allow
windows users to authenticate nfs shares. The problem I am having is
with the UID mappings of Active Directory users. When I run the command
"getent passwd" not only am I getting users, I am also getting computer
objects. This is using all of the allocated idmap uids. I can increase
the number, but I am looking at entries

Please translate M$ speak: create a new organizational unit
Hi All,
I am a bit new to Samba PDC. When a M$ tech article says:
"Use Active Directory Users and Computers to create a new
organizational unit (OU)". What does this mean in Samba PDC talk?
Please translate.
Many thanks,
-T
I have a lot of guesses, but I want to hear it from someone
who has already done it.

Organizational Charts
Hi All,
Does anyone know of a library/widget for creating organization
charts, preferably based on prototype/scriptaculous?
Thanks in advance!

Questions about ldap organizational units
Environment is Samba as a PDC, OpenLDAP backend, with
smbldap-tools providing the scripts to manipulate the data.
What are the recommended/mandated organizational units (OU=)
for user, computer, group info.
I'm pretty sure that groups go in ou=Groups, but I am confused
about where user and computer data goes.
I have seen ou=People, ou=Computers, and ou=Users in various places.
Which is it

Joining samba server to Windows AD OU when OU has slashes in OU name
I'm attempting to join a samba server to a Windows 2003 Active Directory
on a network I do not control. The admins are working to help me on
this, but I am also attempting to be as inobtrusive as possible. To that
end, I have set up a Windows PDC and another samba server (with the same
configuration) on a private network to do my own testing without having
to hassle the Windows admins and ask

There's a discussion of this from last month here:

Create ou update values ins ASTB when Asterisk is stopped
Hi,
The title says it all : is it possible to create ou update values ins ASTB
when Asterisk is stopped ?
When Asterisk is running, I'm using :
asterisk -rx "database put Foo Bar 1"
Can I do that when Asterisk is stopped, using some program that can read and
write in ASTDB (I'm using Debian Squeeze).
Will this change when ASTDB will be moving from Berkeley DB to SQLite 3 ?

No "Group Policy" tab in OU properties
Hi all,
Recently I deployed a Samba 4 ADS, using this (
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO) as a guide.
Mostly it went well, until I came to the step of defining the group policy
for the OU.
I have an OU with users in them, and when I right-click on the OU container
and go to properties, I only have the following options:
- General
- Managed by
- COM+
I am therefore missing the

[PATCH v2v] Add -ou option for setting output UUID.
I'm not sure whether this patch is really necessary or a good idea.
It does make testing easier, since you can test virt-v2v on a single
host (using the -ou none option).
Note that current virt-v2v.git does not preserve the UUID in either of
the target cases (this is a regression/change from earlier behaviour).
Rich.

Probably I will be back to the office by this afternoon, but I'm not sure.

send specific NDR message for users in certain OU
That's something you probably want to do on the edge instead of message store, so a better place might be relocated_maps if you use Postfix. With that you can easily customize your ldap search base for accounts-to-be-deleted OU...

Samba-LDAP - Getting Computer accounts to live in ou=Computers
OK, here is the deal. My system spins like a top with one exception.
I would like to store Computer accounts in ou=Computers and get them out
of ou=People. I've tried simply makeing this the ou that Computers are
added to but then the XP clients cannot seem to see them. Changeing
this is likley to be easy to do and incredibly hard to find the specific
details of how to do it. I know
