Create Organizational units (OU) from Unix.
Hello,
Is there a way to create an OU (in the AD sence) from Unix with the
samba tools ?
I have made a script that create all my users and groups (for a
school). But I still need to create the OUs manually from windows with
RSAT.
Thanks.
Baptiste.

UID mapping for Organizational Unit
I am running samba 3.0.10-1.4E on Red Hat using winbind to allow
windows users to authenticate nfs shares. The problem I am having is
with the UID mappings of Active Directory users. When I run the command
"getent passwd" not only am I getting users, I am also getting computer
objects. This is using all of the allocated idmap uids. I can increase
the number, but I am looking at entries

Please translate M$ speak: create a new organizational unit
Hi All,
I am a bit new to Samba PDC. When a M$ tech article says:
"Use Active Directory Users and Computers to create a new
organizational unit (OU)". What does this mean in Samba PDC talk?
Please translate.
Many thanks,
-T
I have a lot of guesses, but I want to hear it from someone
who has already done it.

Organizational Charts
Hi All,
Does anyone know of a library/widget for creating organization
charts, preferably based on prototype/scriptaculous?
Thanks in advance!

Questions about ldap organizational units
Environment is Samba as a PDC, OpenLDAP backend, with
smbldap-tools providing the scripts to manipulate the data.
What are the recommended/mandated organizational units (OU=)
for user, computer, group info.
I'm pretty sure that groups go in ou=Groups, but I am confused
about where user and computer data goes.
I have seen ou=People, ou=Computers, and ou=Users in various places.

How I can create an organizationalUnit (OU)?
Now I created an user into an OU already existent, but I need to create a new OU.

Ok it seems like you are in the exact same situation I was.
So here are the files in a tgz.
Once uncompressed, you'll have to change each occurance of "DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=com"
according to your configuration.
you can do this with something like :
perl -pi -e 's/DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=com/DC=Carlos,DC=com/g' *
Then you will have to run ldbadd and ldbmodify in the correct order to upgrade

Hello Carlos,
I had the same problem as you.
To solve the problem, I just modified the files I needed from adprep in order to be able
to run ldbadd and ldbmodify.
Can you run something like this to check your schema version ?
ldbsearch -H /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb -b "CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=YOURDOMAIN,DC=com" -s base objectVersion

msDS-isRODC is introduced in version 32 of the schema.
This is the problem I faced.

ldbadd issue on Samba 4.1.13 AD DC
Hi there,
I have Samba 4.1.13 AD DC compiled on CentOS 6.2 (32bit). Everything is
working fine.
Issue: ldbadd cannot re-add a deleted user account.
What I did:
1. save user account
# ./bin/ldbsearch -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb
sAMAccountName=krtu > ./user-add.ldif
2. delete the user account
# ./bin/ldbdel -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb

Samba4 LDAP LDB Indexes
I have a system running Samba 4 Alpha 11, and I seem to have a corrupted LDB
file in my directory. (Probably the result of taking a backup without using
tdbbackup). Right now, running tdbbackup on the file produces an error
message similar to the following:
Failed to insert into DC=WWW,DC=EXAMPLE,DC=COM.ldb.bak.tmp
failed to copy DC=WWW,DC=EXAMPLE,DC=COM.ldb
If I run

Samba4 migration
I have a question ...
How can I migrate existing LDAP users ( or schemas) on Ubuntu 10.04.2 to the
new Samba4 (Ubuntu 12.04.2) server?
Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks for support
