SYSVOL Replication in a Windows-driven AD environment
Hi everyone,
So, I am working with an AD environment where there is one 2008R2 DC (which
holds the PDC emulator FSMO role) and one Samba DC running on Ubuntu 14.04
(Samba Version 4.1.6-Ubuntu). I have been trying to set up the rsync
workaround for SYSVOL replication, but I've been unable to get it working
properly due to the inability to compile rsync with xattr support under
Windows. My

Setting up Second Samba DC samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset fails
Hi List!
I am working my way through getting familiar with samba and I have two
domain controllers now with an additional samba file server.
The servers are CentOS 7.4.1708;
the domain controllers are built from source with samba-4.7.1;
and the file server, installed winbind, smb and nmb from CentOS repos.
My problem is after bringing up the second domain controller and
successfully joining it

Problems with joining a second DC to AD
Hello,
?
I try to setup an AD-Domain with the help of Sernet-Samba packages. Currently I'm using Scientific Linux (SL) 6.6 and Sernet-Samba 4.1.17 packages. I tried the procedure two times with fresh minimal SL installations.
?
I could successfully install a AD-Domain-Controller.
Now I tried to add a second DC to this AD-Domain and followed carefully the instructions at the samba wiki.
I could

Samba AD DC Replication Problems
I've seen a couple of posts related to this, but nothing with definitive solutions or even hints that helped me in the right direction. I'm attempting to add Samba4 DCs to my existing AD domain. This mostly works - it replicates in information from the Windows DCs, starts the services, and appears to have all of the necessary information. Scheduled replications from the Windows DCs to

samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset - NT_STATUS_BUFFER_TOO_SMALL
Hi,
After making progress with my scripts for software installation (thanks,
Rowland!) I am on a bit of a mission to get things working again.
I found that permissions on my sysvol share were somehow incorrect (group
ownership was root, etc.) so I ran 'samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset'.. however
this now fails with the following error. (I'm on Samba 4.5.0)

Replication problem when adding new DC member
Hi all,
So we have a single AD-DC master, and I'm trying to join a fresh new DC
(DOMAIN-ad.DOMAIN.intranet, 192.168.0.11) to the master
(ad.DOMAIN.intranet, 192.168.0.17), and I'm using the HOWTO here:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory
and I've hit a problem in the section "Built-in User & Group ID
Mappings" - when

Problems with joining a second DC to AD
Hi Rowland and Louis,
?
I did try both of your suggestions, but nothing changed on DC2. I did check all the DNS-settings (resolv.conf and hosts), so that I don't think that this is the reason for the error-messages.
?
I did set the loglevel to 5 and will try to find the differences between both machines. These are just virtual machines to test the building of a AD-Domain before using it in

Can't create/update Group Policy in Samba 4.6.5
Hai,
In reponse to the why i recommend that.
Since this is a "windows" only share, i recomment to set it up for that usage, with results in better matching for windows rights.
Resulting in better working policies.
The current POSIX rights did not match to my needs and resulted in inconsistant policies.
This is why i use these for profiles and sysvol.
And this is my setup order:

[XCP] Import Always Fails
I''m trying to contain my frustration...but I''m wondering if *anyone* has *ever* gotten the Import functionality to work in XCP? I''ve tried several times, and keep getting the same obnoxious and useless error that is absolutely no help to anyone: Failed to Import. I have made sure that the transfer VM is installed (View -> Show Hidden Objects, transfer VM is there),

Samba 4.5.3 AD DC - issues with sysvol when setting up Group Policies
I have Samba 4.5.3 working fine as an AD DC and DNS provider.
I now need to set up a group policy on the DC but I am having problems with
the internal sysvol and netlogon shares.
Via the Windows Group Policy Manager snap-in I successfully created a GPO
specifying the DC as the primary time source for all clients, using the

installing samba from ubuntu 16.04 repository as DC
!!! Regards
Is it possible to install samba4 from ubuntu 16.04 repository as a domain controller?
I tried, but I'm having trouble with the sysvol folder ACLs.
I can authenticate with smbclient however when I try to access from windows with the same user, I get permission denied
# smbclient //localhost/sysvol -UAdministrator -c 'ls'

File Locking on Samba & Terminal Server 2008R2
Resurrecting an issue that's been discussed several times, but with no apparent solution...Windows Terminal Server attempts, with multiple users, to re-use the same connections to remote SMB/CIFS servers. This causes a few problems with file locking in Samba, particularly in our environment, where users might legitimately open multiple files with the same name, but different network
