Seems I cut off my smb.conf short. I do have these two
lines that may be winbind related:
idmap config * : backend = tdb
idmap config * : range = 1000-199999

ntlm_auth = NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS: No logon servers (0xc000005e)
I had to downgrade samba on a rh5.5 instance due to ntlm_auth not working properly: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=561325
Now, when I add the computer to the domain ('net ads join ?U Administrator') it seems to work, is visible on the AD interface, but the logs show an error:

Problems with ADS join after Samba update on FC4
Hi,
I used to have a working Samba + Winbind configuration in ADS mode under FC4;
Samba version was 3.0.14a-2. I joined a W2k domain, and winbind correctly
returned the user information. krb5.conf and smb.cong have been modified
according to Howtos and tutorials found on the net.
One day Samba has been updated to 3.0.23a-1.fc4.1 and it stopped working.
No modification has been done to the

net ads join problem
Hi all,
I'am trying to join ADS an W2K server. This server was already joined,
but after chrash i was obliged to reinstall it.
When I try net ads join -Uusername the following output appears:
[2006/10/25 14:08:46, 6] libads/ldap.c:ads_find_dc(224)
ads_find_dc: looking for realm 'SLZOVA.CZ'

"getent group" shows AD groups; "getent passwd" only shows local users
I had winbind configured so that it could fetch users from AD.
Everything was working properly, but something happened in the past
couple of days (no change in the Samba config) I'm not able to diagnose.
"getent group" enumerates groups, "getent passwd" doesn't.
"wbinfo -g" returns groups, whereas I get this error when trying to get
users:
# wbinfo -u

Samba 3.0.0 RC1: Unable to find a suitable server
Hiya,
I compiled the RPMs of Samba 3.0.0 RC1 according to
"../samba-3.0.0rc1/packaging/RedHat/samba.spec" and installed the
binaries
from the freshly compiled rpm on my up2date Redhat 9.0 Server.
The command "net join -U Administrator%****** -d10" creates following
error:

[root@samba30srv RedHat]# net join -U Administrator%******** -d10

samba,ldap and kerberos
Hi Everybody,
We are integrating samba, kerberos and ldap
samba-3.0.2a
sun kerberos
sun ldap
all the three servers are on three different solaris machines.
we were able to successfully integrate samba and ldap and works fine. When trying to bring in kerberos support , we changed the samba configuration file as follows
interfaces = 131.183.20.96
bind interfaces only

Failed to join domain: failed to find DC for domain...
Getting this error when trying to join computer to the domain. I just
built a new debian computer for gaming and photo and video editing. I went
through the same process as I did before (I created a script to do all of
the things I did in the past)
net ads join -U administrator
Password for [HOME\administrator]:
Failed to join domain: failed to find DC for domain HOME - The object was

And it shouldn't be there, it is part of the ext4 default settings.
Just a thought, are the acl & xattr packages installed ?

Slow boot when no serial pty connected
Hi everyone!
It's the first time I send a message to this list, I hope it's not the last :)
So my issue is that when booting a disk image generated with virt-builder [1]
it takes more than 5 minutes, waiting in the boot screen that says:
"
Booting from disk...
press any key to continue.
"
The press any key message shows up to 5 times. The issue is that it stays in
that screen
