Automatic printer drivers for Windows clients do not work
Hi All,
My problem is that when I "connect" a printer by right-clicking it on \\smbhost\printers (on a Windows client), it seems to install the printer fine (without error), but I can't print (it seems to print, no error message or so, but it never makes it to the printer).
I was able to install the printer drivers both via the Windows GUI (wizard) and via rpcclient (please see

CUPS & client driver download
Hi everybody!
I've got a problem with downloading printerdrivers from my win2k box.
Successfully added printer with cupsaddsmb-tool (as root, after
failing as printer admin!!?!?!). The W32X86 and WIN40 directories
have been created as they should and also did the PPD files.
But if I connect to the printer from Win (as printer admin) I get the message that no
driver could be found.

cups printer oddity
Dear list,
in CUPS, I have to absolutely identical printers configured (I believe),
except for the printer name and the hostname it connects to. I use
cupsaddsmb on them (same PPD). When I try to connect to the printer
prn-1101-001-d110-1, it works; for prn-1101-001-d111-1, it does not. I
have narrowed this down to the following difference in the output of
rpcclient -c enumprinters:

No joy adding a CUPS printer
I'm trying to change my Samba setup from LPD to CUPS, with little
success. I've followed [and re-followed] the setup documentation
from CUPS and I just can't get Samba to recognize my printer.
The catch is - it sort of recognizes it :-(
First I added these lines to my smb.conf:

[global]
load printers = yes
printing = cups
printcap name =

rpcclient error / printer driver issue
SUSE 9.1
samba-3.0.9-2.6
samba-client-3.0.9-2.6
I am getting some errors that I can't seem to track down in any of the
archives. I came across this problem when trying to delete a driver
none of the printers are listed in the smb.conf - it is all being
generated from the cups and the printcap that cups makes on load
First enumprinters works:

windows printing, and keep hitting bumps along the way
So far of two printers on a test systsm, and hp deskjet 920c and a PDF

samba (2.2.8a) driver download fails
Hi there,
I have a problem with the rpc driver stuff:
I have copied the driver files to //atlas/print$/W32X86 and WIN40 (via
filesystem copy), added and set the driver without errors.
But getdriver reports no driver associatet with the printer?!
So reports below.
I am sure, this was working on this system.
I tried to reinit the ntprinters.tdb, printing.tdb, nt_forms.tdb and
ntdrivers.tdb by

I'm trying to add print drivers to printers on a Samba server using a
NT4 workstations in the past this has worked. I'm currently running
Samba 2.2.7a & CUPS 1.1.17, when I attempt to add drivers to the new

crashing however it does copy the driver files to the server, it then

Samba 3.4.9 net rpc shutdown and XP Domain client
Hi @all,
this is an very old problem, posted the first time 2005 to
samba-testers at samba.org:
If I have a Domain client with WinXP, which is part of a domain and
using this client, if the PDC is not available and want to remote shut
down this client with the net tool from other servers, then this is not
possible, because net tries to authenticate against the PDC:

problem with printer drivers
Hallo,
I'm running a Samba 2.2.5 server on a SuSE 8.1 box.
I setup a [print$] share at server pslag, following the
documentation. I have a [printer$] share too. Without it,
Samba wouldn't export my cups printers for browsing.
My config file is like that:
[global]
:
printing = cups
printcap name = CUPS
printer admin = root
load printers = Yes

Adding a cups printer driver
Hello,
I have desperately tried to make samba able to share the printer with a
Win98SE client. First I tried cupsaddsmb, but that failed.
Then I walked step by step through the installation manually as explained in
the documentation, and everything stopped on this point:
rpcclient -Uroot%xxxx -c 'adddriver "Windows NT x86"\
