samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --interactive fail
Hi all,
I try to install a samba4 AD DC, but when I try:
samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --interactive I have this:
Realm [DOMAINTEST.LAN]:
Domain [DOMAINTEST]:
Server Role (dc, member, standalone) [dc]:
DNS backend (SAMBA_INTERNAL, BIND9_FLATFILE, BIND9_DLZ, NONE)
[SAMBA_INTERNAL]:
DNS forwarder IP address (write 'none' to disable forwarding)

Ok tomas.
For a good removal of all samba packages.
1) for x in `dpkg -l | grep samba` ; do apt-get remove --purge $x ; done
2) apt-get remove --purge winbind
That should clear all packages of samba.
When thats done. Try the install again.

Provisioning AD DC, MS-AD_Schema_2K8_R2_Attributes.txt Not found
I ran apt-get remove --purge samba.
What is the proper procedure to remove it?
I've moved past this particular error by copying the files to that location
but have hit a new snag, how do I completely wipe out all traces of the old
packages?

Provisioning AD DC, MS-AD_Schema_2K8_R2_Attributes.txt Not found
Wanted to update this thread and mark it as SOLVED, hopefully my notes will
be useful to another user down the road.
My issue was indeed not having the new version of samba in my path, however
I had to add it in two locations other than /etc/profile.d
Appending ":/usr/local/samba/bin:/usr/local/samba/sbin" to the PATH
declaration in /etc/environment and /etc/sudoers allowed me to

Hai.

Means to me you installed with a DHCP ip and you didn't correct the /etc/hosts file.
Second, you are running which os?
And you installed samba from the distro first?
You probely missed some files in removal.
Check these things first please.

Domain Member Server: Domain Users cannot access shares
Hello to the Samba devs and mailing list subscribers,
I've run into a bit of trouble getting a new domain member server setup.
I've got three Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit VMs running the latest stable build of
Samba built from source acting as Domain Controllers. I've got a fourth
physical machine running Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit running the canonical
distribution samba (Version 4.3.9-Ubuntu)

Domain Member Server: Domain Users cannot access shares
Hi Rowland,
>From the top down, I'm going to try and cover every step involved in the
wiki and give you as much info as I can in the hope that we can get this
issue resolved, or at least determine that there is nothing wrong with my
config and that the underlying array has to be the weak point, even if none
of us know why.

Hi Rowland,
I had run those queries during troubleshooting last night as well,
apologies if I get ahead of myself, here are all of my missing roles, they
only have dn entries, the second line containing fsmoowner is blank:

You have disabled SELinux too

Mediawiki is throwing an error at this moment but I followed that page when
I set up the shares and triple checked everything when I last reset ACLs.

Samba AD/DC crashed again, third time in as many months
Hello to the samba users list again. I've got an emergency here, a Samba
AD DC I've got deployed has crashed again, this is the third time since
12/17/2015 that this domain has failed completely.
No power outages or unexpected shutdowns, samba simply fails to start, it
appears my database is yet again corrupt:

Domain Member Server: Domain Users cannot access shares
*Another reply that was accidentally sent to the wrong address...*
I ran another test of a share on the raid array after making the changes
you suggested Rowland. I reset the ACLs on /mnt/md0/samba_shares/test as
outlined in the wiki and set the default group to domain admins. I
executed setfacl commands g=rwx and chgrp domain admins, then added the
directory to my smb.conf and ran

Good afternoon!
Had a samba 4 with a Windows 2003 network that is not over, I went up to
the level of my domain / forest
Forest level function: (Windows) 2008 R2
Domain function level: (Windows) 2008 R2
Lowest function level of the DC (Windows) 2008 R2
But it seems that Samba is not with all attributes of a Windows 2008.
Even try to join another Samba error appears

Domain Member Server: Domain Users cannot access shares
So it seems that I have identified the source of all of my permissions
issues, though I'm unclear as to exactly why these problems have occurred
and would love an explanation if anyone can offer one.
I was using mdadm to create a RAID 1 array, formatting it ext4 and storing
all of the data that samba was serving on /dev/md0. The two drives that
make up the array are hosted by an LSI MegaRaid

Is it possible to lower the domain and forest functional level
Hello Denis,
I checked all the attributes and objectclass defined in
/usr/share/samba/setup/ad-schema/MS-AD_Schema_2K8_R2_Attributes.txt
and /usr/share/samba/setup/ad-schema/MS-AD_Schema_2K8_R2_Classes.txt
exists in my samba 4 ldap.
Nothing is missing.
Can you give me some inputs to "recreate a Samba 4.7 domain with same SID by piping in all the objects" ?
