NT_STATUS_INTERNAL_ERROR from RPC server on samba 4.5.8 AD DC
Hi, I have a samba 4.5.8 AD DC (debian 9.1 package) which is having problems with RPC requests. This DC has been updated from the wheezy-backports package (4.1.17) via the jessie package (4.2.14) but I'm not sure if RPC worked immediately before the upgrade either since most of the time it only serves LDAP and krb5. Connecting using RSAT from windows gives "RPC Server

Samba 4.8 RODC not working
Hi, It's my first try to setup RODC using Samba 4.8. We have latest Samba 4.7 environnement with 2 DC and some file servers. Joining the DC to the domain is OK using samba-tool domain join command. The domain controller appears in the DC list (MMC) However, users cannot be authenticated. Samba is running but these ports are closed : netbios-ssn 139/tcp # NETBIOS session service

Samba 4.8 RODC not working
Hi, Thank your for your answers. @Rowland: Yes, Winbind is installed but it seems it is not started (or cannot start) @Andrew: Please find extract in log level 4 during a service restart and a connection test with smbclient from another machine. I hope this could help, this is not clear to me : ==> /var/log/samba/log.samba <== [2018/05/29 10:54:00.173894, 0]

Second DC won't start LDAP daemon
Hello. I've got a network of FreeBSD servers which traditionally hosted a classic domain. I upgraded some months ago, removing the old PDC and BDC and migrating to an AD DC controller in a jail. This is working fine with Samba 4.4.13. Now I'm trying to add a second DC, so I created a new jail on another physical server and went on with the setup, following: >

Samba AD/DC crashed again, third time in as many months
Could I get some input regarding restoring ACLs? There's nothing in the Samba wiki about what to do with the ACL archive. I've finished all of the other steps already, what do I need to do to restore this archive? NT_STATUS_ADDRESS_NOT_ASSOCIATED error msg on DC boot
Hi, after rebooting the AD DC i regularly get NT_STATUS_ADDRESS_NOT_ASSOCIATED and - as a consequence - task_server_terminate: [XXXd failed to setup interfaces] error messages in log.samba (I removed a couple of "samba: setproctitle not initialized, please either call setproctitle_init() or link against libbsd-ctor." lines for better readability): [2019/06/11 09:23:47.400171, 0]

Many errors after adding SAMBA 4.1 as 2nd AD in Win 2008 domain
Not even sure where to begin. I've attempted to setup a Ubuntu 14.04 box as a 2nd AD controler in a Windows 2008 domain. The main domain controller is an actual windows machine. Unfortunaly it is an older domain and is a ".local" which I know gives y'all heartburn. After installign samba, I did not provsion it but ran this: "sudo samba-tool domain join MYDOMAIN.LOCAL DC -U

Unable to join DC to domain
"I expect you don't have just copied your VMs disks without changing VMs hostname and FQDN. I expect you don't fully re-use smb.conf from another DC (you can do that but you must change hostname into smb.conf)." 1) These are new Ubuntu VMs, not cloned, built from scratch. I tried joining them with no smb.conf in /usr/local/samba/etc You have disabled SELinux too 2) AFAIK

Alright... appreciate the info. Gave it a shot. Domain is still up but shares are down because they were hosted on FILER which has now been demoted and is no longer running any samba services. What I did while following the wiki "Transfer/Seize FSMO Roles": 1) logged on to FILER, ran samba-tool fsmo show, verified all 7 roles were owned by FILER. 2) logged on to CBADC01, executed

samba4 stopped working
I've been using Samba4 on Debian/Jessie since it became "stable". After the last upgrade however, I got a massive failure. The first symptom I noticed was that I couldn't grab updates from the Debian servers. However when clients tried to log in, the real problem revealed itself. They could only log on using a temporary profile and couldn't connect to any of the shares

user login passwords are mixed up
Hello, Some users in my domain report that they have to use different (old) passwords on different computers. They say that they still have to use their "old" passwords after they changed it. My domain setup is that users are asked to automatically change their password on Windows 7 Enterprise after some months. So they have to do that. Otherwise they cannot login. But why is it, that
