By default the file is smb.conf unless you're specifically starting
Samba using a different named file.

requesting advice on integrating openssh & solaris secure RPC
Hi:
I am new to the list and new to developing secure applications.
I have been reading the archives to see if anyone has integrated
openssh with solaris 8 secure RPC. It doesn't look like there is
any support to do this openssh.
I have started on a preliminary patch to openssh-2.5.2p2 to
automatically authenticate secure rpc using the same password
used by sshd to authenticate the

Multidimensional Scaling with pairwise Fst
I want to create a MDS plot with pairwise Fst values derived from a
population genetics project. My Fst values are in a tab-delimited file

command I get the message:

Samba using a MySQL passdb for machine records
Greetings. I'm using Samba 3.0.3 with the MySQL auth backend, as a NT
domain controller. I'm having some issues trying to get machines to
join the domain. In full debug, I see samba queries the machines
database (I have two seperate MySQL passdb sources, one for users, one
for machines), and does retrieve the record. However, it then returns a

gamma distribution
Hi R Users
This is a code I wrote and just want to confirm if the first 1000 values are raw
gamma (z) and the next 1000 values are transformed gamma (k) or not. As I get
2000 rows once I import into excel, the p - values beyond 1000 dont look that
good, they are very high.

blktap, vmdk, vdi, and disk management support
Just a quick fyi...
We''ve recently added support for blktap along with
support for managing virtual disks (disk file images).
There are some difference from a linux dom0.
This is available in b101 @
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/downloads/sol_ex_dvd_1/
This allows you to create and manage vmdk and vdi
(Virtual Box) disk files. By default, virt-install
will now use a vmdk vdisk when

A quick heads up for the iscsi, zvol, and vdisk

With this putback, you can now install onto and
boot a guest using iSCSI disk(s).
The iscsi formats supported are:

MSDFS info...
Hi, I'm new on Samba...
I'm trying to set a samba server with a DFS share. I have found this
example:
# The smb.conf file:
[global]
netbios name = SAMBA
host msdfs = yes
[dfs]
path = /export/dfsroot
msdfs root = yes
then I must create some link into /export/dfsroot:
root# cd /export/dfsroot
root# chown root /export/dfsroot

Does anyone tell me how to use the xm serve command?
I''d like to try using this command.
But I don''t know the usage and anything necessary,

rsync using ssh get stuck
Hi,
We started working with rsync to sync data between remote sites.
We started seeing many stuck rsync processes.
Usually it happens in the ssh stage while the ssh issues a "select"
syscall on fd #4 while it is long gone.
Here is an example:
root@ptsl2171:/root# ps -efwww |grep ekrimer
ekrimer 28619 4979 0 Jan28 ? 00:00:00

Using MSDFS
I've set up a dfs share according to instructions. There is one part of the instructions that I don't understand. I've checked the forum archives but can't find any examples which might help.
In the Instructions section (4.1 of the HTML Samba Project Documentation), is shows how to set up the symbolic links in a DFS share, as shown below.
I have 2 Samba servers (SMB1 and SMB2).
