P. p. S.: Oh, I have remember. Quite important thing. There are some soft where is not address line where you can put \\server\folder address to access or you can not get access resource via \\server\folder, it only via computer list. For example: Far. By typing \\server - there is error. Only: Alt+F1/F2, network, MS Windows Network, GroupName, CompName. If it is visible - Samba4 with Nmbd, it is

nmbd in redhat 8.0
If I enable wins support = yes & I start smbd it starts smb & nmb. When I restart the service it says that there is no nmb service at 10045 running. When I do a ps -aux, you can still see the service running. They will keep building up until I manually delete them. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Disk size on share with multiple partitions
Hi list, I am exporting share which has a small base partition into which several much larger partitions are mounted. Which are used by different user groups. My problem is, that windows takes the size of the base partition to be the size of the whole share. If I try to copy anything larger than the base partion into a partition that is actually larger Windows reports insuffient disk size

nmbd dies as soon as it's started
As soon as I start up the daemons using the following commands, nmbd dies. /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D /usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D When I view the nmbd.log it gives the following. We're trying to set up Samba to work over 2 subnets. Smbd is ok and we can still mount our shares. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help. [2002/10/22 10:37:55, 0]

Error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is again. (Rowland penny)
What do you want to say that Samba4 can not operate as standalone server, only intend for DC ? Or there is other way to use Samba4 simply as filserver. Btw, I was able to use Samba4 as standalone server of 434 version. 2016-03-14 22:40 GMT+03:00 CpServiceSPb . <cpservicespb at gmail.com>: > Sorry. > But my gmail account ... > > > > 2016-03-14 22:34 GMT+03:00

ctdb do not start nmbd if serving AD
ctdb 2.5.3 dual node file server with 4.1.9 serving AD domain Hi We have enabled the script at: /etc/cdb/events.d/50.samba but when we are the enabled node, it starts not only smbd but also nmbd. This doesn't make sense in an AD domain. I've tried disabling nmbd starting under openSUSE's systemd but ctdb overrides that, I've had a look at the script but can't decipher the bit

Samba4 and 0.0.0.0:137 and 0.0.0.0:138 opened, why ? How do close it ?
Thanks for this answer. As I understood, for example if parameter bind interfaces only = yes is and interfaces = lan0 (192.168.0.254) is and if broadcast packet goes from 95.95.95.14 such packet will be dropped (in other words) ? Am I right ? And other thing. Why is 192.168.0.255 (network broadcast) opened for ? May be exact such address (network broadcast) is inbtended for receiving broadcasts

Samba4 and 0.0.0.0:137 and 0.0.0.0:138 opened, why ? How do close it ?
Hmmm, I founded some at https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2012-July/085752.html As I saw these patches was already implemented. But is it possible to receive broadcast not to 0.0.0.0 but to x.y.z.255 ? This is network broadcast either. And opened 0.0.0.0 even with checking of source net is quite insecure from net security point of view. I think so. May be is it necessary to add

SMBD - NMBD problem
Hi guys, I realy need your help. It looks like SMBD doesn't want to talk with NMBD, but why? When I run the command: nmblookup torpc8 The result is: querying torpc8 on 10.5.255.255 Got a positive name query response from 10.5.2.27 ( 10.5.2.27 ) 10.5.2.27 torpc8<00> That is correct.
