Internal DNS and recursion
On the Samba wiki at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_Internal_DNS there is the following: If you have chosen the internal DNS as backend for your environment, there are only two options that can be added to your smb.conf, to control the behaviour of DNS at this point: # Don't allow any updates | allow unsigned updates | only allow signed updates allow dns updates = False |

samba4 schema for openldap
Hi all. I have samba 4.2.3 on freebsd 10.1 server. There are three DC and about 350 PC on domain. I wrote earlier that samba4 ldap performance is not enough for me. Now I want to try a server in the middle with openldap pcache - ldap cache proxy function. But it only works with appropriate openldap schema. Where I can find samba4 openldap schema? I'm going to cache simple queries such as

About kern.ipc.somaxconn and netstat
Hello. We have a webserver using FreeBSD, we read about tunning kern.ipc.somaxconn (http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/configtuning-kernel-limits.html) so the OS can handle all the connections. Is there a way to know how many connections are established in a certain moment?. I know about netstat(1) but is there any other command that we can use to know the exact amount of

storing SOM epoch in EA
Good day, some time ago we discussed that it would be very helpful to store epoch in inode on mds. the perfect solution could be to store epoch in old inode body, but there is no much space for this in the body and with DMU we''ll have this problem again. given the minimal inode size we use on MDS is 512 bytes, we can store upto 13 stripes in the body. larger EAs go to a dedicated block.

Samba46 Listen queue overflow in FreeBSD 11.1
There are a number of rather low listen() queue limits in Samba which we also ran into on our pretty busy (around 300-500 users/server) Samba servers, also on FreeBSD 11.1 (six servers with 256GB RAM, 2x10Gbit ethernet, 140TB of storage). Please find enclosed a patch we use to up the limits (quite a bit). The patch makes it possible to control the queue limit via the config file using a “socket
