Changing expired Samba AD password during Windows login
I went back and re-installed on a clean VM of Ubuntu Server 16.04.3 and built Samba 4.7.4 with default configuration and it works just fine to change expired passwords at login. I should have tested this default configuration a while back. I was trying to use MIT Kerberos instead of Hemidal and had followed all the directions on this link:

winbind service panics "randomly"
Hey Roland, Since my last e-mail, I went to sleep and left the thing running. It's a production server (from "9 to 5") and for the last hours it has been working flawlessly. I'm beginning to think it's not really "random". Not really sure it's a bug; it seems to happen when I check it with wbinfo (the log I sent was a good example). But not always. Weird. 1)

samba's source code won't compile on ubuntu 14.04 LTS
This was my first post to the Samba list. It’s my intention to lend a hand to people, using my experiences as a launchpad, but sometimes a best practice is unbeknownst to me. For your suggestions, Rowland, I thank you. Your comments will help me improve my practice. Hi all, I'm trying to build samba git master on Debian jessie with backported ldb/talloc/tdb/tevent but am getting this error even though the required libraries are installed. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to debug this? I tried increasing the waf verbosity, no luck. compiling samba for ubuntu 12.4 lts
Hi, I'm trying to create a samba4.0.1-package for ubuntu12.4. It seems as if I've succeeded to resolve the dependencies and everything is compiling and linking just fine until it switches to the source4 directory. There I always get these kerberos/heimdal-related linker-errors: default/source3/libads/kerberos_57.o: In function

If you plan to keep 4.3.x you can use --enable-fhs from configure script's options (and the two others proposed by configure --help associated to --enable-fhs). Doing that you should have most of your directories reused (/etc/samba, /var/lib/samba...) That worked for me as I don't care polluting /usr and others (I use VMs and destroy them without a tear) on Centos 7 when I switched from
