samba4 stopped working
I've been using Samba4 on Debian/Jessie since it became "stable". After
the last upgrade however, I got a massive failure.
The first symptom I noticed was that I couldn't grab updates from the
Debian servers. However when clients tried to log in, the real problem
revealed itself. They could only log on using a temporary profile and
couldn't connect to any of the shares

Samba4 roaming profiles & ownership of profile.V2 folders
I've got roaming profiles for one account on a Debian/Jessie AD DC
server but I can't get them to work for the other accounts. The
differences are that the one account is also a Linux account in the AD
DC and is in the Domain Admins group. The other accounts were created
with ADUC on a Windows 7 machine logged in as the Domain Admins user
just mentioned. They are Domain Users but not

'Administrator' account (UID 0) on Samba member of a Samba4 AD DC
Hi all,
I have a samba server as member of an AD DC.
In said AD DC there is the 'administrator' user which has the default
UID of 0 (the same as root)
from the ADDC:
# id administrator
uid=0(root) gid=513(SMC\Domain Users) groups=0(root),513(SMC\Domain
Users),3000005(SMC\Group Policy Creator Owners),3000009(SMC\Enterprise
Admins),512(SMC\Domain Admins),3000007(SMC\Schema Admins)

Ok, these :

Are not available on the "Share security" but are on the "Security"
So the "Share security settings" need only.
Everyone FULL CONTROLL ( or Verified users )
And i think your done.

Rsyncing Samba4 Roaming Profiles between servers
Hi folks,
I've got a bit of an issue with roaming profiles and I wondered if someone
might be able to help please? :-)
We've started rolling out Samba 4 across our network. Currently it's on 3
of our 4 sites, one site has two Samba servers and two sites have one Samba
server each (well one site has two Samba 4 servers but one of the servers
was an oldish test box which I'm

Samba4 AD Groups Problem
Hi!
I created a Samba4 Demo Server to test AD functionality. Basically
it's a Debian Wheezy machine with a manually compiled Samba4
(smbstatus -V: Version 4.1.0pre1-GIT-051a1a9) according to
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO but adjusted the paths
to a more debian way.
I can Manage the Server with the Windows Domain Utilities, add users,
add groups, add Machines and so

Problems with before_validation
Hi all
My visitors can create party organisator profiles, and I want assign
them as the creators (the field creator_id in the organisators table
references a member in the members table).
To do that I tried it with before_validation:
def before_validation
creator = Member.find 1
end
Sadly, this does not work. The validation
validates_presence_of :creator_id
Still tells me, that
