NTLM_AUTH failing?
Thank you, Rowland. I will be going by this afternoon and I will check. The thing is, if it IS "\", how do I enter that into the pptp-options file? The entire list of parameters are in quotes, so do I need a double-backslah or anything? NTLM_AUTH failing?
That is client setup. We have that under control. Our Linux users use Network Manager to connect and our Windows users use the stuff built into Windows. My problem is server-side. The server is a PPTP VPN (running via pptpd) and I have to add the lines below to make it work. plugin winbind.so ntlm_auth-helper "/usr/bin/ntlm_auth --helper-protocol=ntlm-server-1" Now, that allows ALL

NTLM_AUTH failing?
I'm setting up a PPTP VPN server on a client domain and am having an odd issue. If I run ntlm_auth on the command-line, it works as expected. However, if I run it with my PPTP server, it denies access to every user. MY setup is that I have a few AD users in an AD group named "PPTP". I have the following in my pptp-options file. The server is Debian Squeeze 64bit. name vpn01 domain

ntlm_auth from pppd help
Hello all, I am working on a VPN solution using FC3-2.6.12-1.1381 - openswan 2.4.4-1 - l2tpd 0.69-13 - pppd 2.4.3-5 - samba 3.0.10-1. When attempting a connection from an XP-SP2 box pppd dies without authenticating the user (see below). I have run ntlm_auth from the command line with success. What tools can I use to identify the failure? Is there an obvious error in the ppp options file?

NTLM_AUTH failing?
Rowland, I tried that already, but I made two break-throughs. First, I went to a location where it was working. I realized then that I had put in the SID for the PPTP group at that location. You know, the "S-1-15-xyz" number? Now while I was there, I noted that they were running 4.1 stable. I upgraded them to 4.3 stable. Guess what? The VPN broke! Something with ntlm_auth and 4.3 stable

how to use ntlm_auth
Hi, I want to know how to use ntlm_auth with ntlm-server-1 and freeradius, with the users login and password information in ldap. I have read documentation of ntlm_auth (only found the man page), docs and howtos about pptp and squid, i don't found about freeradius, and i'm experimenting with the options of ntlm_auth. I have configured freeradius+ldap+802.1X for a wireless lan, but i

VPN server and logon to Samba PDC
My goal is to make VPN access to our Samba PDC (FreeBSD 7.0) so that users can access there home shares from Windows clients. I have read the instructions at http://samba.org/ftp/unpacked/lorikeet/pppd/final-report.pdf, but I can't make it work. Don't know if is due to my lack of skills or has something to do with the Popop functionality in FreeBSD. Following the instructions, i made a

'winbind use default domain' doesn't appear to work with ntlm_auth
Hi everyone, We just upgraded Samba from 4.4.5 to 4.6.5 and appear to be experiencing a problem with authentication, when the RPC domain is not supplied as part of the username. I have two scenarios where this has cropped up: RADIUS authentication using ntlm_auth Apache HTTP using mod_auth_ntlm_winbind RADIUS authentication: We use the freeRADIUS 'mschap' module to provide

ntlm_auth and freeradius
Dear All, I'm trying to setup FreeRADIUS to authenticate a machine account to grant access to wifi for domain-connected machines. I think I've got the GPO's set up properly and the CA deployed to the clients, as I'm not getting any errors there. The errors I'm getting are to do with ntlm_auth not authenticating my machine account. Everything looks OK (to me) on the command

Using ntlm_auth with a non-Squid application
Hello my goal is to write an authentication module for the Symfony php framework, which would provide SSO capabilities to browsers that are logged in an MS AD domain and support the NTLMv2 protocol. Ideally this module would run on linux servers, and be portable, i.e. require as few non-php tools and network/firewall settings as possible (that's why I eschewed the existing Apache modules

I can confirm mine were almost identical, so I've tweaked them so that they are now exactly the same as yours except for the "--require-membership-of=example\authorization_groupname" line in ntlm_auth. Unfortunately it's still erroring out: (7) mschap: Creating
