bind fails to start w/missing records
Samba 4.1.16, Centos 6.6 x86-64, BIND_DLZ 9.9. I have three AD DC's that
were functioning normally. However, today I restarted BIND on one node,
and it failed to start with this message in the log (names changed):

nmcli: unwanted secondary ip-address
Dear CentOS-Community,
we are facing the following issue:
A secondary ip address seems to be automatically added to a nic which
causes several issues in our setup.
This server is equipped with four nics which are currently in use:

The 2 errors:

Cannot delete credentials[7]: Permission denied
Looks to be a major bug in the PAM module for Solaris-2.8/2.7/2.6.
Has anyone from the list (developers of OpenSSH, endusers, hackers, etc.)
came up w/ a solution? Even a temporary one?

smbclient ends in NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED error
I have applied the changes as suggested. After restarting the server, smbclient-command worked! But after I restarted the Samba Client with „/etc/init.d/samba restart“ I was once again confronted with the same problem! Again, only another server restart did the trick. Now I am facing this problem constantly. As soon as I restart, this command among others won’t work without displaying an error

which DNS backend ?
Hi Rowland,
Would you care to elaborate on that last sentence? I've not seen that
mentioned before and I'm very curios about your reasons for saying it,
especially as we're using internal DNS for our two DCs.
regards,
John

eno1 and eth0 on centos 7.1
I installed 7.1 with the command line values
biosdevname=0 net.ifnames=0
thinking this would result in ifcfg-eth0 being the file to use...
The system still created an ifcfg-eno1 file and that was what is being used
for network config information.
I remove the ifcfg-eno1 and rebooted - got no network.
I then copied back the ifcfg-eth0 to ifcfg-en01 and changed the device name
in the file and

Internal DNS logging
We're using the Sernet Samba v4.2.4 with internal DNS and I can't find
the DNS logs. Where does the Samba 4 internal DNS log queries? Thanks.

Samba 4 sudoers
Has anyone here managed to get sudo working with Samba 4 AD users, using
either ldap or sssd, with sssd preferred? If so, can you please point me
in the direction of whatever instructions you used? It seems like there
are a bunch of tutorials on the subject, each with different, and
sometimes conflicting, information but none of those I've tried work for me.

I Upgraded from Samba 4.4.2 and we have tried the FQDN without success.

Internal DNS logging
no DNS server on that planet logs normal queries just because there si
not enough disk space in most setups, there is not benefit log anything
except erros and warnings for normal operations
what is the problem you like to solve and if there is no problem why do
you want logging normal operations?
in other words: what do you try to solve except

Classic upgrade - no email addresses
Hi Rowland,
Perhaps I misled you with my wording. Each user has just one email
address, which was not migrated across. From where I'm sitting that
looks like a very serious bug.

John

Module error after Samba update - Resolved?
Probably a ld issue. It might have not run in the rpm's post script. Do a ldd
/usr/lib64/samba/libsmbregistry-samba4.so /usr/lib64/samba/vfs/acl_xattr.so and check if
either are reporting missing dependencies.

We need to change our AD domain
Hi Klaus,
I haven't used that tool for at least 13 years but I do recall that,
among other things, it read from the registry. Coupled with the fact
that Samba 4 AD is not a complete implementation of AD I can't imagine
that it could possibly work. More to the point, I'd be seriously
concerned about the results. This is not something I'm prepared to test

Problems with smbpasswd
I've compiled the latest version of samba (1.9.18p4) and set up password
encryption (per instructions in the ENCRYPTIONS.txt file). Setting root's
smbpasswd worked with no problems. I set another user (me) with an
smbpasswd. Tried "smbclient -L '\\hostname\wwinzer'". The output is the
following:
68 wwinzer@Sun-E3000:~ ==> smbclient '\\champusa.com\wwinzer'

[Solved?] Problem since upgrade to 4.5.1
Hi Rowland,
Thanks for the suggestion. So far, since adding 'ntlm auth' to smb.conf
on the DCs we are no longer having this problem. Only time will tell if
it stays working but at least I'm no longer getting complaints from the
users.
regards,
John

Small file performance
Hi Volker,
Thanks for the response. The clients are Win 7, Win 10 and various
flavours of Linux, with Samba client versions ranging from 3.6 to 4.5.3.
There is no perceptible difference between any of them.
Network latency is never above 0.2s and mostly sits at around 0.1s. If
that's a problem it is so only for Samba.
I did as you suggested with the smb options but that just made it
