transfer fsmo role using ldap
Note once role transfer is not really instantaneous. Not even on the host seizing the role. Once the samba-tool fsmo seize command is successful DCs need times to perform that transfer. 2015-10-02 21:26 GMT+02:00 Rowland Penny <rowlandpenny241155 at gmail.com>: > On 02/10/15 20:09, Yosel Lazaro Vera Gonzalez wrote: > >> >> ----- Mensaje original ----- >> De:

samba-tool using domain users
!!! Regards For example, I tried the following command: samba-tool user create jhon p at assword -U mike Then, the user is created without authenticate the user mike Another command that I need execute with authentication is "samba-tool fsmo transfer". That's all the point of an AD domain : ) If any user could make change into AD database, the product would not be too much secure.

why samba-tool allows password reset against Windows DC ?
The password encryption works because I can modify the password connected to a DC samba4, but the problem is when I try the same with the Windows DC. I'm using a LDAP java library. My question is: what is the samba-tool authentication method that you can reset password connected to a Windows DC using "samba-tool user setpassword Admin --newpassword=PASSWORD -H ldap://10.0.0.3 -U

Problem transfering fsmo roles.
Hi, I have a Samba domain which currently has 4 DC's. I am in the process of trying to remove the old 4.8.12 self compiled DC's and ultimately replace them with (2) 4.12.8 DC's on Buster with samba from the VanBelle repo. Due to an error in my apt configuration I currently have 2 4.11.14 DC's running on Buster. If I try to transfer the roles from one of the 4.8.12 DC's to one

Hi! In wiki -> https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Transferring_and_Seizing_FSMO_Roles#Difference_of_Transferring_and_Seizing_FSMO_Roles "If the DC is broken (e. g. hardware defect) and will never come back again, then you can seize the role on a remaining DC. transfer FSMO roles from Windows DC
I have the Active Directory domain with Windows 2008 R2 domain controller and Samba domain controller on CentOS 7. Samba is 4.3.5 (self-compiled). Forest and domain levels are Windows 2008 R2. After joining Samba to the domain as the domain controller there were no DC=ForestDnsZones and DC=DomainDnsZones records on "OUTBOUND NEIGHBORS". I fixed it with ntdsutil, as it's written here

Transferring FSMO Roles to Server 2008 R2 DC
Hello, As far as I know, there is no Wiki article for transferring FSMO Roles to Server 2008 R2 DC. This article’s focus is on joining a Server 2012 DC to a Samba4 domain, but it touches on the subject: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Windows_Server_2012_/_2012_R2_DC_to_a_Samba_AD <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Windows_Server_2012_/_2012_R2_DC_to_a_Samba_AD> I would
